where do u place ur camera 2 take ur pictures?

im cool with the whole settings thing i just need help actually taking a good full-face picture, like do u use ur zoom and timer and stand back from ur cam to get a headshot or do u hold ur cam out in front of u or do u place it on top of something with ur timer and stand right in front of it?
