Exacto Knife or a tiny (as in computer screws tiny) flat head screwdriver.
Small candle, Lit.
Fork, Metal.
Towel.
Optional Tools:
Magnetic Strips
Metallic or Neon colored Gel pen.
|
1.) Light your candle and prepare your workspace. Take es, ccb, or blush and gently work your exacto knife under the lip as pictured.
Once you have your tool under the lip pry the two pieces apart. You might have to use a little force, but the well containing the metal pan will pop right out of the main pot.
|

2.) Take the piece and balance it on your fork, hold the fork over the candle for anywhere from 30 seconds to one minute.
You can usually gauge the right time by watching the plastic closely, when it starts to melt and curl around the edges it's safe to remove from the flame (see picture to the right for an example of this).
Once removed from the flame you must work quickly to ensure that the glue does not harden again.
|
3.) Once you have removed the fork from the flame set the fork on your towel.
DO NOT TOUCH THE FORK, you will burn yourself.
Working quickly take your exacto knife and insert it between the metal pan and plastic container, -gently- pry the pan from the plastic well.
As you slip the knife in between the metal and plastic work the knife down around the bottom of the metal pan separating the glue from the pan.
If your glue has been properly warmed this should be very simple and your metal pan will separate from the plastic container easily.
|
|
4.) Once the pan has been removed from the plastic well use "goof off" or similar substance to clean the residual glue off the bottom of the metal. The next steps are optional.
|

5.) Taking your magnetic strip place it against the bottom of the metal pan, mark off what you need and use your exacto knife to cut the strip.
Using your gel pen mark the name of the shadow on the magnetic strip. I also like to include the formula. (veluxe, frost, etc.)
