Tina Turner---Great idea!!!

Liza and Diana WERE big in their day in the US, but nowadays? Not so much here, let alone the rest of the world. MAC is an international company, yet most of their releases are designed to be marketed towards and appeal to an American and White audience. I wish they would choose someone from India personally.

Also, MAC appeals to a large age range. Just becuase Catherine doesn't appeal/isn't well known to the twenty-something crowd doesn't mean she won't be a great icon. My mother is VERY excited, as am I. Catherine is a great spokesmodel, particularly for the VASTLY overlooked older demographic. MAC has few products and formulas which work with older skin, yet their motto is to be all inclusive.

Honestly, Liza and Diana are questionable at this point as icons. Some of their life decisions have removed them from such titles in my opinion.
well with the previous choices (liza and diana) it seems they HAVE been choosing an icon for the older demographic. its not new. thats why i was hoping for once they would choose someone for us young folks. even someone like angelina jolie who is not only beautiful actress but also does SOOOO much around the world. an awesome icon indeed.
Yep, Diana and Liza were older. Think back over the past few years of MAC ads and models. How many have looked over 25? How many actually WERE over 30? Diana and Liza. The icon collection really is the only collection that has been marketed towards an older demographic at all, and even then they've airbrushed the poor women so much that they look like a computer generated version of what they -might- have looked like when they were younger. I really wish they wouldn't do that, I'd love to see MAC say that it's OK to have older skin, and you can still be beautiful with it. But I suppose that's not en vogue right now.
ITA-The pictures of Diana were beautiful, but a lot of people could not even recognize her.

Talking Huzzah for you Martygreene!
I couldn't agree more! I'm far from a 20something myself, and I love that MAC appears to finally be recognizing that there exists a rather large portion of the population who isn't 20something! Catherine Denueve is lovely, altho, I can't ever think of her without hearing in my mind the old "national lampoon radio hour" ripoff of her Chanel perfume commercial.. Anyone else remember that?

Anyway, she's a helluva lot more an Idol than ol' Silicone Knockers that they have now....

C'mon Mac - get with the program! A few more items for us older gals!

Kim
