Question about returns

I did a search on this question and couldn't find an actual answer so here we go.

Some threads have said that any returns to MAC get trashed others said they get sent to MAC warehouses. What exactly happens with the returns?! Even if they're brand new in boxes and never used?!

I never thought about it until I returned my Glissade MSF and saw the MA toss it in a box that said "RETURNS". I hope they don't get thrown away.

Any answers? Maybe from any of your MAC MAs ...

I not certain but they might just put them in a return box until they have time to look over the product, remove any sale sticker (like at Nordstrom and Macy's) and make sure it is in good condition.
That's what we did at Nordstrom.

I was told by my manager that the policy is that ALL returns must be sent back to MAC where the product itself if thrown away and recyclable packaging is recycled. I am sure that there are some exceptions (like if someone buys something and doesn't even leave the counter before changing their mind and returning). Otherwise there is no possible way to know for certain that the product hasn't been contaminated and it is not safe to put it back on the shelf. That's why I only return if I can't sell it or swap it. I hate to see it all go to waste.

Yeah, it all goes into the B2M bin and gets shipped back to MAC for destruction of product and recycling of containers.

A lot of stores even crush it before they send it to prevent fraud. How sad. Can't you just hear those eyeshadow pots screaming as they get squished?

same goes to the stores over @ my place. learn from the MA that they wouldnt put the item on sales again even if its BNIB. no doubt its kinda of wasted, especially if its a highly rave about item. but i felt that hygiene is very important.

After I heard this I decided that I was never going to return something again to MAC. It actually makes me sad to think of those poor unused MAC cosmetics being squished and never enjoyed!

wow thanks ladies. that is sad. :-( i thought they'd use them as testers at least. damn i really don't want to ever return anything again haha.
