I have always used Studio Tech foundation and love the texture, finish, coverage..everything about it..However i started using it when i had very bad scarred skin and now that it is getting better i was thinking i could start looking at other foundations to use when i feel more confident about my skin.

Anyway what are people's thoughts on Moistureblend foundation? Does it give very little coverage? Is it more a foundation for people with more or less perfect and even toned skin who just want to make it look abit more special?
Also does it look very 'shiny'? I would be using Blot Powder over it but i wouldn't want to have to apply blot powder all over just to get rid of the shinyness.

I'll probably think of some more questions but any thoughts on the foundations i would appreciate.

i was a regular studio tech user till i discovered moistureblend...i looooove it. it's like everything studio tech should be. it's a bit creamier, and does go on a little more sheer, but it's buildable so you can get the same look as you would with studio tech. i don't find it to be shiny at all, but i do have dry skin. hope that helps you out a bit.

I soo agree! i didn't find it shiny either. I also had to build it up a bit because of these really anooying red patches on my face!! lol but it is most certainly NOT jus for those with perfect, beuatiful and ENVIABLE skin xx hehe

That's interesting, when i asked on MUA i got ''it's eurgh and will make you look shiny and will settle into lines and melt off''..i guess it's different on everyone..eurgh damn foundation reviews are so unreliable, they act differently on everyone's skin.

I use a mattyfying lotion on my face so i guess this may not look shiny and slick on me. Studio Tech used to go shiny on and gunky on me until i started mattyfying my skin so i guess it could work the same way.

Moistureblend is more sheer and creamier than Studio Tech, but you can build up the coverage!

I find them both to heavy on my skin...Moisture blend is more sheer than studio tech, but still too heavy for me.
While I didnt use em long enough for them to break me out, I think both of them would. They made my skin feel like my it weighed a ton. I prefer studio fix much more

I agree with Sushi_Flower...it is so hard to write a foundation review because skintypes and preferences vary greatly...but here's my subjective opinion. I love both Studio Tech and Moistureblend. Try the new Prep+Prime Skin underneath both of them. I love how it makes the foundation glide on. Try using the #187 brush to apply the Moistureblend. I also think that the moisturecover is amazing for the undereye area. I am an NC20 and I use NW43 in moisturebend as a contour or in studio tech as a matte bronzer. Moisturecover is dewy without being overly shiney. I love them both!

I agree with using the 187 brush with moistureblend. It looks flawless. I'm sure if you picked it up you would love it.

wow!!! I have NEVER thought of using a 187 with my moistureblend! I'm gonna start doing that (i managed to get a free one LONG story, but MAC is awesome when they mess stuff up! LOL).

Do you just swirl the brush into the compact and then over your face? Or what kind of method do you use?

But yes, out of ALL my MAC foundations I have ever used, I prefer my moistureblend. But I do have dry skin, and in the summer kinda combo...or it can get oily cause of the humidity. So I use the Oil Control lotion in spots where needed...and that's great for not getting shiny.

Can't hurt to try it!

You can use different techniques....brush it across the product, swirl it, lightly pick it up...but the most important technique is how you put it on your face. You can use the 187 brush to stipple it on (the synthetic top hairs) and then I buff it in with the softer underhairs.

The major difference between the two is that MB has a botanical moisturizer built in so the coverage is more sheer than ST. It's wonderful for those who have dryer skin types as well as mature skin.

So just lightly stipple and then push harder on the brush to kind of swirl it in? just trying to make sure i understand! hehe

I have crazy oily skin esp around the nose area and MB was just way to heavy for my skin. It went on really greasy. I can see how it would be better for those with super dry skin.

THANKS all for recommending that 187 to use!! I love using it!! Works like a CHARM and I'm not getting all the dry skin effects when I used my fingers to apply (and it was worse with a sponge!).

Awesome! I'm glad you like the technique. Try using the #187 for skinfinishes too...you can get a more controlled application and when you buff it in it really just gives you the best kind of glow! I also like it for the blushcremes.
