Question Beauty tips for traveling?
I will be going overseas for a month and am trying to put together a list of must-haves when it comes to makeup and skincare. The problem is I'm pretty high maintenence and use a lot of products.

I know what I want to take with me, but what should I be taking? Any other tips on packing light and staying pretty while traveling in a hot and humid country? thanks

i wish i could help, but i went to dallas for two days this weekend (only about a 200 mile trip), and brought 3 bags of clothes and shoes, AND my traincase. I couldn't imagine going overseas!

Good luck packing!

yikes, I hear you...I mean I could bring a traincase with me, but we will be moving around a lot so I probably need to lighten my load!

I read somewhere that you can smoosh your lipsticks into a pillcase to make your own lip palette... seems easy, but maybe there's more to it than that? Could I make an eyeshadow palette in the same way?

I dont think that would work...all the powderyness would get everyeveryeverywhere!

Depending on when you're leaving you could maybe get a 15 pan pallete and depot the neccessary e/s. Just make sure when you take you pmakeup you carry it on!!! And pack it so nothing can move around. It sucks so much to open your case up and find that something wiggled around and decided to play time-bomb and explode.

Hope your trip goes well!!!

less is more
think of the basics
for the day not much needed esp on the eyes maybe a slick of liner (liquidlast) using a bright colour would make the look much more standy out without using 5 or so diff colours on your eyes

agree with the above comment using a 15 pan
get out all your clothes and see what shadows could be matched with them

brushes keep them limited and see esp what eye brushes could be used for multi purpose instead of one for packing on colour, one for blending bla bla bla

face make up keep it au natural use normal foundation and limit your blushes to 2 at the most- one for daytime one for nightime

just think of what you use everyday and what really isnt neccessary to take away and you could do without- fyi incase needed theres a great tutorial on packing make up to take away in the tutorials forum

i was going to suggest buying smaller bottles for your lotions and such but realized youll be away for a month and a small bottle would probably only last you a week or so.. lol i'd just stick to the basics with makeup, a few neutral eyeshadows, a favorite blush, mascara, eyeliner, a couple lip products and definitely some blot film or powder since you mentioned humidity and heat.

Haha, when I read this I had to laugh. I actually am already overseas (France) and I have been here for almost four weeks, and have another one and a half to go. I am normally quite high maintanance when it comes to makeup and skincare, but I really pared it down to the basics for this trip (it was a road trip, space limited and all that). I have with me four sample sized pigments because they fit better than eyeshadows and they don't break. The not breaking part I can't stress enough. I also brought one mineralise eyeshadow, one blush, mascara, brow gel, and foundation (liquid). And here's the real kicker, I only brought one brush, a powder brush. I decided that all I need was natural looks, and I can do that with my fingers easily. In way of skincare I brought Sense Therapy from Biotherm because it's a changing climate and I figured my skin would get mad at me (it did). I also brought a moisturiser from Biotherm which was for normal skin but because it's so freaking hot here I had to buy something for oily skin to try and control things. As well, I brought makeup remover and an exfoliating cleanser. And that folks is it. Basically I thought of my routine when I'm late for school and embellished a bit. Good luck rose and have fun on your trip!

When I travel, make-up wise I bring:

- 1 quad with Carbon, Expresso, Shroom & Silver Ring
- 1 liquid liner in matte black
- Curler & tube of Bad Gal Lash
- 1 bottle of Face & Body (sealed in a condom if I'm flying )
- 1 pressed compact of Blot with a puff inside
- 1 creme blush in a generic soft pink colour
- Bombshell lipstick
- 1 firm eyeshadow brush, 1 blending brush, 1 fine point brush.

Voila! With those eyeshadow colours I can do everything from soft and subtle to intense night looks and they're colours that can work with any outfit. I use Expresso to fill my brows with the fine point brush, which I also use with Carbon to create smokey lines. The blush works with any combination of those eyeshadows, the powder has its own applicator, F&B is a foundation that works really well when applied with fingers and can be built from sheer to heavy coverage. The biggest extravagence is the curler, but curled lashes can give the illusion of a full make-up look. It's all about maximising the bang for your buck with the absolute minimum of product - you don't need an entire traincase of colours you might wear, but whittling it down to a small handful of colours that a.) work really well on you and b.) can be combined together to create different looks. Don't skimp on your skincare, though - you'll need it when you're moving through different climates and eating different food.

My entire travelling make-up kit fits inside a lunch box.
