Photo courtesy of the Smashbox website.
Overall Rating: 5 -- Seriously, just amazing!
Price: 4 -- $36.00USD
Packaging Quality: 5 -- Not in a glass bottle like the others. I like it better.
Would you buy this product again? Most definitely!
I have found the HG foundation primer for my skin type -- normal to slightly oily, with occasional breakouts and a few clogged pores. This product is heaven sent. It blows away any other primer I have ever tried, including MAC's -- which is what I have been using but just wasn't cutting it for me.
I have to be honest I wasn't expecting much since Photo Finish (the original, silicone-laden formula) was just breakout and clogged pore city for me, but when I saw this in my Sephora I couldn't pass trying it out. And I have been pleasantly surprised. It slides onto my skin with such ease and it seems to mattify my slightly oily T-Zone. I don't apply with my fingers though. I use the MAC #190 foundation brush to apply the primer. I don't like using my fingers to apply any product to my face (bacteria/cross-contamination city = gross). It dries to a matte, silky texture but not to the point of feeling slippery/slimey like the original formula.
Generally, I apply my full-face of makeup at 8 or 9 o'clock in the morning and by 7 o'clock in the evening, when I return from classes, it looks just as good as when I originally applied. The big plus: I didn't have to blot at all but since I am obsessed with a matte face I still lightly applied pressed blot powder to my T-zone, throughout the day, just to keep my face looking matte and perfect. The first day I wore it, I received so many compliments from girls on my campus about how my skin looked "perfect." Amazing!
Ladies and Gents with combination/oily skin who are on a quest to find their primer, I beg of you, at least try out Smashbox's new Photofinish Primer in LIGHT. It's definitely a huge upgrade and improvement to the original formula that, I believe, wasn't really suited for those with oilier skin. Hey, if you don't like, you can return it and get your money back, but I don't think that'll happen.
