Salon tipping for fixes?
My stylist made a mistake and my hair needed to be fixed later. A trainee was made to do most of the fixing (putting on glaze and blow dry).

Do you tip a trainee when you are coming back because the first attempt wasn't right?

Re: Salon tipping for fixes?
hmmm good question. I probably would, but thats because I wouldn't have tipped after the first go when it wasn't done right.

Re: Salon tipping for fixes?
I don't know about the tipping, but I actually would be bothered by a salon that had a trainee fix a botched job by a stylist. IMHO it says the salon owner/manager isn't really concerned with the customer's satisfaction ("oh, you don't like it? Here's someone brand new that we're training; we'll let them try to correct what the trained full-fledge stylist did wrong.")

I would also think the salon wouldn't let you pay anything, tip or otherwise, for this visit. However, if the trainee did an awesome job, I imagine I would tip them out of gratitude.

I hope it came out better the second time around. Did you end up tipping the trainee?

Re: Salon tipping for fixes?
I agree with COBI, it should be the original stylist or someone higher up the ladder who fixes the mistake, and a tip should def not be given.

Re: Salon tipping for fixes?
i agree with cobi as well. if you did pay, i would go back and ask that your next cut/dye be "on the house" since youpiad for the bad job, and the fix, and/or tip. and i would mention i was bothered by how they made a trainee fix it instead of someone higher up then the stylist who made the mistake in the first place.

I hope it turned out great though!
