I wanted some color , just not RED
So i suppose I am what you call a porcelain beauty , or pigmently challenged. But we took my son to swim yesterday. While I normally avoid the sun at almost all coasts, I thought well I'm so white I glow, I'll try to stay out in the sun longer and just get enough color so I'm not pastey white. so I slathered up rea;; well with 30 SPF when i normally use 50, and went an lounged in the pool for about 2 hours. So apparently the sunscreen was old and I look like this all except for my face , which I used a diffrent sunscreen on , so what do you ladies do for your sun burnns?I;m in so much pain and i'm not even doing anything , If i hadn't put sunscreen on I'd be like yeah I', stupid, but I tried ....

Re: I wanted some color , just not RED
I think you can get aftersun cooling gels, they work pretty good for sunburn or aloe vera gel I know is another solution. Hope it stops hurting soon, sunburn is nasty - I always end up looking like a lobster after I go in the sun, I'm really really pale too. I've just learnt to live with it now though!

Re: I wanted some color , just not RED
I'm usually ghost white and if I do get a bad sunburn I use aloe vera gel. I definitely recommend it. I would also maybe consider getting an aloe plant--I've got a big one and you just cut off a leaf when you have a burn/or a cut and it heals and soothes it instantly.

I agree w/ the aloe vera
But take a bath with a bunch of tea bags, it's soothing to the skin

Re: I wanted some color , just not RED
In the summer, I keep aloe vera in the fridge. It's so nice and soothing on the skin. I've also taken a nice, cool shower before, too. You might try taking some ibuprofen to help with inflammation and pain. Feel better - burn suck!

^agree with the above! My fave aloe is this cucumber melon scented one. It feels so good on a sunburn.

Ditto. Aloe Vera & keeping the skin moisturized will work best hun.
Just make sure you don't burn your burn or try to tan with the burn... it'll be horrible. I heard three bad sunburns can really affect your chances of getting skin cancer...eeeps!

Actually, one bad sunburn can do that.

HEHE , I'm avoiding the sun like the plague =) .... besides its been down pouring last night so no sun... The sad part was I wasn't trying to tan , but you know if you go out with sun screen you'll get a slight tint.... That was my objective. I stayed out for 2 hours , when I normally won't stay out for more that 30 mins.... and had 30 spf on ... I endded up with a 1st degree burn on my chest ...

Completely agree, I've already had 5 or six places removed. I've not had a sunburn in over 4 years, I'm typically extremely careful !

If you've got any Vitamin E ointment, I find that slathering a sunburn with that helps it heal faster. Aloe vera is good for soothing too.
