My makeup website! (lots of updates as of 5/20/07)
Click here for the comparison site!
***5/20/07 The home page is now makeup.raquel13.com. I've added tons more to the site including FOTDs/looks, lip swatches, pics of my storage setup, pics and recommendations for brushes, and a gallery of pure makeup porn.
I'm thinking about adding tutorials, too, but if I do, one of the existing sections will have to be eliminated to make room. Probably either "lips" or "gallery" will get the axe (leaning towards "lips"), but I wanted to get some opinions. Please let me know what you think!
***5/20/07 The lipgloss collection has been online for a while now, I just forgot to update here. Click on " lips" from the main page.
***5/3/07 My entire blush and highlighter collection is online now, too. Click on " cheeks" from the main page.
*** 5/2/07 My entire eyeshadow collection is online! Well... except that I noticed that the last batch of photos (coppers through whites) look darker and more orangey than they should, so I may have to reshoot them (ARRGGGGHH)!
For aziajs, here's a version with 3 panes for planning color combos.
If you happen to notice any errors (typos, images or thumbnails not showing up, thumbnails not labeled, etc.) I'd appreciate a heads up! (Note: At this point (5/1/07) the newly added thumbnails are not yet labeled... this is not an error, I just haven't gotten around to them yet.)
This is a work in progress. I'm taking pan and swatch pics of my entire eyeshadow stash and putting them on a website to help people compare colors (or see how different colors look together for combos!). I'm going through the spectrum and so far I've only done blacks, greys, silvers, olives, and about 1/4 of my greens, but I will be updating and adding more as I go along. I have about 300 eyeshadows (rough estimate), so this is just the beginning... it'll be a LOT more fun when there are more colors to browse through.
I tried really hard to make the lighting uniform in all photos. I used a Nikon D40 (no flash) and an improvised light box with a 100-watt GE Reveal bulb (which is supposed to make colors look truer). Here is a pic of my "photo studio" in case anyone's curious.
All swatches were made using sponge tip applicators or cotton swabs on NC30 skin. Skin was freshly moisturized before each swatch to make the color adhere better, and each color was swiped twice.
Eventually I will do similar comparison sites for blushes and lipglosses as well.
Any suggestions on how to make this easier for people to use would be appreciated!

OH MY GOD THAT'S AWESOME! Finally one place where I can find all (most) of the swatches! I can't wait until you're "done" (I'm sure you'll never be done? lol)

Re: Eyeshadow comparison swatches
This is a fantastic idea. I love the site. So, when all is said and done how many windows will you have to view and compare colors? I would think with the more shadows you have the more opportunities you'll have for comparisons.

Re: Eyeshadow comparison swatches
Thanks for the comments, everyone! I'm glad you like it!
Today I added the rest of the greens, as well as aquas, teals and turquoises. I'm working on blues next.

Hmm... I wasn't planning on having more than two... I'm afraid it'll be too much and just freeze up. Maybe I'll just try three or four and see how it goes.
