The Labyrinth of Jareth Annual Fantasy Masquerade
IIII am here to tell you today about only the awesomest Hollywood event EVER! Well, at least it is to me. I'm a little biased.

I've been going since year 3, and now we're all the way at year 11! Wow, time flies. The masquerade is a fantasy-flavored event in Hollywood for ALL AGES, so you make-up lovers with kids can enjoy yourselves without having to find a babysitter.

First things first, here's the website: Masquerade Labyrinth of Jareth Ball 2008 11th Annual Fantasy in the Faerie Court - Costumes and masks required of venetian nobles

That can tell you everything in a much more succinct fashion than I ever can!

What's the masquerade? Well, it's a masquerade, but it's a lot more. You can come in costume, or you can come in eveningwear as long as you're wearing a mask. There's regular dance floor dancing, but there are also absolutely amazing stage acts, ranging from cool weird bands (like Brother or AM Pacific) to full theatrical dance performances (if you like Cirque du Soleil, you'd REALLY like the kind that we do). There are also side stages in the outdoor areas, where all kinds of secret performances go on throughout the night, ranging from the silly and kid-friendly (last year there was a puppet show) to the more creepy (like Wandering Marionettes, which is an amazing group of actors that go around dressed as marionettes, with half of them being the puppetmasters and half of them acting the part of the puppets).

Why do I think you guys would be interested? Make-up, of course! There is SO much creative makeup done at the event every year, from both amateurs and industry professionals who love the anonymity that they get from it being a masquerade while still being able to work their make-up magic. If there's a crazy face chart you've always wanted to do but have nowhere to wear, this is the place for you!

The masquerade this year will be held in the Henry Fonda Musicbox Theatre in Hollywood, California, on July 11th and 12th. I HIGHLY urge anyone who likes fantasy, costuming, theatre, Renaissanve festivals, Cirque du Soleil, or just a great dance party, to attend.

Here are some examples of makeup from previous years to whet your appetites!

If you have ANY questions at all, please don't hesitate to ask or PM me!

Plane! Plane! Fly it! I fly in from Michigan every year, so I know how tricky it can be getting all the way over there. But at least for me, it's totally worth it. And last year for the 10th anniversary, I'd racked up enough frequent flier miles going every year to get a free upgrade to first class! It was awesome. Now I wish I were rich so I could fly first class ALL the time.
