hi guys! i need help decorating my living room. we have a futon, but today we ordered a sofa and a loveseat. the sofa is chocolate brown and the love seat is baby blue. we're still deciding if we're going to keep the futon in the living room and just get a brown cover for it or move it to a different room.

anyways, what color do you guys suggest for accent pillows, a rug, picture frames, and drapes? also, what color coffee table? for reference, our carpet is beige, our bookcase, shelves, and entertainment center are black, and the futon is metal and black. oh yeah and white walls, and we plan to keep it that way because we're just living in an apartment. i tried to think of it in terms of eyeshadow combos and was thinking kind of a sea green to go with it but i'm not sure. any advice or websites you guys may know are appreciated. thanks!

You can put a choc. brown microfiber on the futon. Keep it incase you have guests stay over.

I love old world style.
I would say a champaign color drapery. You don't need choc. brown pillows b/c ur couch is already a dark color

For a coffee table: something wrought iron w/ a glass top (get coasters)

an area rug: since your carpet is beige. I would go with something baby blue & choc. brown.

Picture frames: I would go with a chamaign color & keep it very simple.

You may want to get a brushed copper floor lamp also for more light.

Okay as far as accent pillows go, go for the baby blue for the couch and the brown for the love seat. I would be hesitant to introduce a new colour into there only because blue and brown aren't the most similar. However with the pillows, you can play with textures and patterns a bit.

For a coffee table, my first inkling is to do black, like a wrought iron, however I think that what really would be nice is a vintage steamer trunk. It's not only a fun look but you can store stuff in there in case anybody were to come over.

For an area rug, I would do a nice Karastan-style rug, albeit one with more blues to it.

Picture frames are something where you could really have fun but a nice bamboo-style frame would be really pretty. I would go for a brown similar to the colour of your couch. Also black is a good one to go with, as you have so many black pieces already.

For drapes, I would go for a beige, almost tea-stained fabric.

As far as accessories and everything go, I have to say it depends on your personal style. Now from what I have pieced together, it's almost like you returned from the Far East and you visited the bazaars. That's just my inspiration. However you could do touches of black-a black coffee table, a houndstooth print rug, and black-trimmed draperies-and create a very sleek look.

Silver frames/accent pillows would look reallyyy good! Also pillows in the steel blue range woud look good and it would introduce another accent color.

This rug would be cute - it would tie in with your carpet/sofa : click for photo but keep the other items simple with a pattern like this.
Oh and for drapes i would do a cream/ivory color

Greens are supposed to be really calming and I think it would look lovely with that contrast.

You need to decide what kind of theme you want. Modern? Family? Etc. I think that will stray you on the right path. Decorating can be super fun -- goodluck! Currently, I'm planning out our super bohemian/gypsy-themed living room with tons of pillows, floor pillows, candles, inscents, eclectic artwork, royal hues of fuschia purple orange etc! hehe
