The wings were my second tattoo. I had always wanted a fairy tattoo, but after taking some time to really think about it, I decided to just get wings. My wings They were taken from a fairy in an Amy Brown painting, but my artist altered them a little.
I was really picky about the colors. I have this perfect shade of blue, but only in my mind. I couldn't really find anything that was the right color to show my artist. Eventually I realized that I should go to an art store. Sure enough, I found a Pantone marker that was the exact shade. The morning of my appointment, something came up and my boyfriend and I had to drive to south Georgia. I think round-trip, it was 4 hours. We had just enough time to make it to the tattoo parlor, but I had forgotten the marker. I described it as best I could, and my artist got it perfect. It's a much deeper color IRL. And of course, I love purple too
The 42 is from The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy. It's my absolute favorite book/series - the one that rekindled my love of reading after being forced to read many books I didn't like in high school. Douglas Adams died too young (in 2001 - he was 50). This was my way of paying tribute to such a talented man. His work is an inspiration to me. I also wanted to get the tattoo before the movie came out.
Now, what does 42 mean? Well, that's the problem http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Ans...d_Everythi ng
42 is the answer to Life, the Universe, and Everything. But no one knows the question.
