anyone had an allergic reaction to some kind of lipgloss or lipsick?
Last friday I was trying on some lipgloss and chapstick gloss at sephora. First I tried on a sephora lipgloss then looked around and tried a too faced bunny balm. That day my lips began to feel tingly and burning. So I thought it was the sephora lipgloss that did that. So the next 2 days I started getting these bumps on my lips.
I have had these bumps before from wearing some other brand of lipstick for some reason I tried MAC lipstick it doesnt give me those bumps. Anyways I bought this Too faced bunny balm and I think thats the reason why my lips arent getting any better. I have more and more bumps on my lips until now! Its disgusting! And its not going away. I stopped using this balm.
So have any of you experienced something like this? any of you know what could have caused it what ingredients may have caused it?

I don't have the problem, but my friend has something similar. Turns out she was allergic to Vaseline or something in there. It is possible that you are allergic to that too.

hmm no i dont use vaseline. But I was looking through on the internet that Lanolin was one of the stuff that can be found on some chapstick or lipgloss that can give you an allergic reaction.

I'm allergic to all of MAC's lip products because they all contain vanillin. I'm allergic to pretty much all artificial vanilla flavouring/scenting. So across the board, I can't use any of the lip products unless I want to feel itchy, sneezy, watery, sore throat yucky. I would recommend taking note of the ingredients in whatever you used and see if other products with similar ingredients cause the same reaction. Eventually you should be able to figure out which one is irritating you. Good luck!

I have had this happen over and over! I finally got it to stop happening by using Paula's Choice Lipbalm under everything. I also take Lysene (vitamin/supliment) whenever my lips break out, it helps them heal faster. I always had a really bad time with certain lipglosses like Revlon Superlustrous. Anyways, HTHS

Not to point out the obvious, but if you're sharing glosses or using store stesters, then you're setting yourself up for a nice case of the herp - small red lumps, tingling, buring and itching... sounds like coldsores to me.

LMAO!!! So I am not the only one this has happened to?!!! I still to this day, don't know what I am allergic to, b/c it is different things each time. I tried to look at the ingredients, but I can pin it. I narrowed it down to anything with spf. But then, I just recently had a reaction to a Revlon lipstick and a Smashbox lip gloss.
If you ever get this prob again, take benadril (I think I spelled that wrong ). My doctor perscribed me a steroid before to reduce the swelling.

Re: anyone had an allergic reaction to some kind of lipgloss or lipsick?
It's likely an allergic reaction as opposed to cold sores where there would be some type of pussing or crusting. I've recently experienced an allergic reaction on my lips. It came from using my face moisturizer on my lips. Couldn't find my chapstick so I used the next best thing in my eyes. BIG MISTAKE! Similar reaction i.e. itching, tingling, lips gradually swelling, small little bumps. I went to the doctor and he gave me Claritin and a hydrocortisone cream. Benadryl/Claritin/cortisone cream can all be bought at the drug store and it was an amazingly quick fix because my lips were back to normal in a few days . HTH

When I was about 10 years old, one time I put on Sanrio brand (Hello Kitty) lip gloss that I had received as a gift. I remember that within an hour my lips started to burn and bleed. It don't know if it was an allergic or irritant reaction. I tried to treat myself with chapstick.

I get allergies to beeswax on my lips, so any products with lots of beeswax (all the cheap brands!), I totally react to it! My lips get really really big and red and butt-ugly!! It's really not pretty...

Re: anyone had an allergic reaction to some kind of lipgloss or lipsick?
omg! i always been trying to find someone that has the same problem as me. its been months for me trying to pinpoint my allergic reaction. my first time having this problem was when i bought the neosporian lip treatment that came out back in april. Since i have a phobia of dry lips. I had to try it. 3 days later my lips were on fire! it was bumps but more like cuts in the skin. if i put chapstick on it to relieve the pain, some liquid/clear puss would come out of the holes. haha i know its graphic but thats what happened. so i ended up using campho to help it until i went to the dr. i couldnt go out for days, it was terriable. i hate it and most of all, my lips were dry & peeling. The dr tested me for hpv and it came back negative and he said it was the neosprion(sp?). that alot of people have allergic reaction to that stuff. its most common in OTC products. he just said to use vaseline for dry lips. Since that reaction, my lips havnt been the same. I try not to use any product that i am not familar with. So back in dec. i dedcied to try the new armani foundation and i got some of it on my lip. I ended up breaking out again. this time i had to go to a dermatologist. They did a pacth test on my skin. basically it was 2 strips that were tapped to your back with 21 samples of the most common allergens. you couldnt take a shower for a week and it followed with, every other day dr visits for them to monitor it. then on the 5th day they will tell you what are you allergic to. (if you were allergic to some of those chemicals, your back would be itching before the dr even tells you). I found out i was allergic to 2 kinds. but they explain to you what it is and what it is most commonly found in. My dr gave me an info book on what to look for in products and some medicine just in case i have the allergic reaction again.
so if you are allegic. try going to see a dermatologist they can help you stay away from those nasty products we love but cant use!

Re: anyone had an allergic reaction to some kind of lipgloss or lipsick?
Yeah I went through my own tests haha I bought a few cheap brands of chapsticks, one with all natural ingredients called Badger chapstick and bought vaseline, and carmax. I had allergic reactions to vaseline and carmax so my lips were allergic to both. I just gave up and went back to using MAC lip balm cause they are the only store that doesnt give me any allergic reaction...I also found out the NYX lipgloss doesnt give me any bumps! so Im glad I can find a cheaper gloss from them I might have to try their balms. But I dont think it is a case of herpes lol. I only have these bumps when I use different brands of chapstick or lipgloss with lanolin in it especially. But I didnt try the testers at sephora though so I dont think that is the case.

Re: anyone had an allergic reaction to some kind of lipgloss or lipsick?
The ELF glosses actually made my lips rashy and swollen outside my lipline
Maybe I shouldn't use cheap lipgloss
