Detective Time.
*****ATTENTION*******

IFIGURED OUT WHAT IT WAS PLEASE STOP GUESSING. IT WAS A MAKEUP REMOVER.

**************************************

So hi ladies I wanted a bit of your help to try and figure out what I had a reaction too. I wore the makeup for 10-15 minutes before taking a shower. After washing it off my eyelids were red. I didn't think much of it because I had to wash my eyes about three times to get it all off. I put grape seed oil on them after I got out of the shower (I use this twice daily so I'm pretty sure it's not that). I also used Lancome eye cream, which I haven't gotten a reaction from before, but I also haven't used it on irritated skin before.

I used on my eyes yesterday :

-Cover FX Foundation
-MAD Minerals Translucent Veil (to set Cover FX)
-MAD Minerals Black Out g/l (as a base)
-Inglot Black e/s
-MAC Blackened Red Reflects Glitter mixed with Benefit SheLaq (all over lid)
-Benefit BADgal Lash Mascara
-MAC Vanilla Pigment.

To clean my face I used:

-Shiseido Face Clenser
-Baby Shampoo
-Just water the last time.

Here's the weird part I've used everything (most daily) except for the Black Out gel liner before (although I've used a different colour as a base).

So here are some pictures, the swelling has gone down a lot (maybe by half), and they're not itchy (I'm not going to go to the doctors unless it gets worse). I've taken an antihistamine and have been using cold compresses (the photos were taken after using both).

The look I did:

How my eyes usually look.

Thanks

Re: Detective Time.
If the only new thing you've added is the Black Out gel liner, then I would say it may be that. Even if you've used other colors, maybe this one has something else added into it that gave you the reaction???

Re: Detective Time.
Maybe it was the glitter? Sometimes when I use glitter on my eyes it gets sore afterwards (I have sensitive eyes from contact lenses), my eyes sometimes gets dry and puffy if I put too much eyeshadow and mascara on and some powder gets in my eye. I hope you get better soon!

Re: Detective Time.
Update on today :

The skin on my eyes feels almost like a burn, it's now dry and flaky. I've been using grape seed oil and Aloe Vera gel on it, it seems to be helping.

Re: Detective Time.
Can I suggest using an eye makeup remover before you shower. I always take it off before getting in the shower because it gets in my eyes. Who knows what crazy combo you got in your eye. And especially with the glitter which can scratch your corneas. I don't think Baby shampoo is a good idea either. Any shampoo strips the oils from hair so its going to strip oils from your skin. That and the combination of rubbing glitter on your eyelids just sounds like a bad idea

It was a horrible reaction to a makeup remover. I found out what it was after having a second horrible reaction. It took about a month to fully clear up. Baby shampoo is about the only I could use that didn't harm my skin and was recommended by my dermatologist as a simple cleanser. I never got anything in my eye, it was all around the eye.

Re: Detective Time.
It's the glitter I bet you.
Those glitters aren't eye safe.
A lot of people can have reactions like that.

Also, many people are allergic to the red and pink dyes in makeup products and it turns their eyes red and swollen.

It wasn't the glitters. I know they're not eye safe but I've used them plenty of times with out any reactions. It was a reaction to a makeup remover. As I stated above I had another reaction after using it a second time.

It was makeup remover not SheLaq, I've never had a problem with it.
