Lipstick study: which lipsticks contain levels of lead
hi,
I have always had complete trust in the products that I buy and the brands that I use.

Today I came across this study. It investigated the levels of lead in lipsticks and it's scary to see that brands like L'Oreal and Dior have relatively high amount. Mac Viva glam lovers can rest assured.

You can download the study here, the list of tested brands is on page 10.

Does this have you guys and girls worried?

Re: Lipstick study: which lipsticks contain levels of lead
I have just discovered a book called 'Cosmetics Unmasked' (by Dr. Stephen & Gina Antczak) which I've found really interesting. It quotes

"When it comes to the advertising of cosmetics, the role of vanity, misinformation and deception play far greater part than providing information about the product."

I think this is so true! I know I personally just buy something because it smells nice, looks good and enhances my face/lips/eyes ect. But if someone put on the back of the package "contains products that in larger quantities may cause cancer, acne and eczma" I would think twice. Not to mention if it had crushed animal bits and chemicals that strip the faces natural oils.

It's crazy how no one cares and none of us really know what exactly we put on our face and how it will effect us in the long run!

This is the government's database on cosmetic safety/lipstick page. They rate safety from 1-10,and if you click on the product, there is a spreadsheet of ingrediants and the safety risk. We will, in our lives, ingest a few dozen pounds of lipstick,so it ought to be safe.

cosmeticsdatabase.com is not a government website, it's a website owned by EWG.

EWG is a non-profit, US based organisation. they are not affiliated with the government.
