Question lotion as makeup remover?
Hey all! a friend told me that she uses lotion to get makeup off...i've tried it and it works well, but it's not dangerous to use around the eyes, is it? thanks!

Re: lotion as makeup remover?
I'm not sure if it's a big no-no as far as safety but I used to do the samething. When I first got into make-up that's what I used because it gets rid of EVERYTHING.

Re: lotion as makeup remover?
It depends on the lotion. If it contains an SPF then it might be dangerous because of the chemicals used in SPF.

You should really buy a make-up remover or a face cleanser at least. If you use a face cleanser then at least use an eye-make-up remover. I use a cleanser and eye-makeup remover (Aveeno Positively Radiant and Maxfactor long lasting eyemake-up remover).

Re: lotion as makeup remover?
i havent use lotion to take off eye mu since i was a teenager and that was if i slept over at a friends house and had no other option, it works but not the best... i use baby oil for eye makeup, its cheap and takes off everything easy..

Ponds Cold Cream is good... I prefer cleanse off oil b/c it rinses off... but before it was invented I used cold cream to get off theatrical and heavy runway makeup.

Nivea Cold Cream in the giant blue tub. Cheap, cheerful, takes off greasepaint.

Re: lotion as makeup remover?
I have indeed used lotion to take off make-up but now i prefer Marcelle make-up remover for sensitive eyes... takes off anything and everything without having to be rough with my tender eyes..

if i was to use lotion again, it would have to be unscented and without SPF as emma said, could potentially be very bad news! burning, and such!

I agree! And, it's inexpensive and leaves skin soft.

Re: lotion as makeup remover?
I find lotion/moisturiser works really well in removing stubborn eye make-up.Just a little on a cue-tip and it mops everything up!I doubt its bad for you but it probably depends on what you use..I just use regular face moisturiser.

Re: lotion as makeup remover?
Doesn't most lotion contain Cetyl Alcohol? I doubt that's good to get in your eyes.

And my lotion has Stearic Acid listed as the third ingredient... That doesn't sound pleasant for your eyes either.

Re: lotion as makeup remover?
i sometimes use my daily generic oil of beauty moisturizer to take my makeup off and i've never had a problem. don't know if that's close to lotion though. also jojoba oil (from any health food store) is wonderful for taking off makeup as well. actually jojoba oil is good for tons of things, including moisturizing.

Stearic acid is animal fat rendered into a wax. It's harmless.
