so yesterday evening i was trying on up the amp lipstick (I love the color) and i noticed my lips began to get swollen and numb- so basically i had an allergic reaction. whats so interesting is that a few months ago I had purchased milanis magenta madness which is a very similar color to up the amp-had the same reaction- so i put two and two together and think whatever ingredient that is in both lipsticks to create that particular color...doesnt work for me.

So my question is does anyone know lipsticks glosses liners combo that are simliar-so i can kinda recreate that color?? Anyone had a similar incident???
Too bad i cant take it back :-(

thats what it sounds like to me, there are common type allergies to red dyes--I find it interesting its purple in colour---do you have any other lipsticks from MAC? do any other ones cause the same?

Oh sadness. Up the Amp is in my top 10 MAC faves. I think before you look for any dupes, you should compare the two sets of ingredients for common ingredients that could have caused your reaction. Better yet, see a derm for an allergy test. It's super easy and will eliminate a lot of wasted money and reactions.

thanks for the advice. up the amp lipstick is such a great color...now im very hesitant to purchase any purple/lavender shades b/c of the reaction/ Its a shame b/c the shades look good on me.As we all know when we find the perfect lipstick we want to hold on to it!But i will surely look into the allergy test..THANX!!

yeah red dye might be it- but whats so funny i have other MAC lipsticks -never had a problem. So im banking its the purple b/c up the amp is the only purple like shade form MAC i own. its really strange

That could most surely be it- im going to look into that so i can save my time and money lol
