melting l/s destroy preservatives?
i have the patternmaker lip palette and it's so pretty that's i'm already thinking about refilling it when i ever empty it. i've read (here) about diff methods of filling lip palettes. i would want it to look nice and neat but someone mentioned that microwaving l/s (to melt and then pour into the palette) can destroy the preservatives etc. does anybody have any additional info on this? i really won't do the 'smush 'em in' method w this kind of box so any other recs that would result in a beautiful finished product would be very appreciated.
(not sure if this is the correct section for this?) thanks!

Re: melting l/s destroy preservatives?
hmm I don't know how melting it would destroy the preservatives. Lipsticks are formed by melting all the different ingredients together in the first place so I don't think it should matter, but I'm no scientist!

Re: melting l/s destroy preservatives?
thanks for your response. yeah that's what others say and it makes sense to me but this person said her friend's father (a dermatologist) said this - in the case of microwaving in particular perhaps. i wish i could find where i read this.

Re: melting l/s destroy preservatives?
I don't microwave them. I just put small slices of l/s in the palette then put a bare bulb on top of it (height should be depending on the wattage of the bulb) and let the heat from the light melt it slowly. Works fine with my l/s. And besides you don't melt the entire l/s, just refill when used up. If it destroy the preservatives (?????), the l/s will be used up before this happen. I'm no expert though so take my suggestion with a grain of salt.
