I have heard that there are pigments that you cant use on your eyes. I was upset to hear that chocolate brown was one. Can someone clear this up since I havent recieved my shipment from mac yet.

I also ordered these pigments

vanilla
pink bronze
rushmetal
copper sparkle
tan
off the radar
gold mode

are any of these pigments not safe for the eye area?

Re: which pigments are not safe for eyes?
You should check out either MACcosmetics.com or macpro.com and on the pages where you see pigments, there's a link for recommended usage. Chocolate Brown is fine, its not on any restriction list. All of yours that you've listed are fine for multipurpose use, can use it on eyes, lips, etc.

From MACpro:

Recommended for Eye Area only
Black Black
Chartreuse
Clear Sky Blue
Cornflower *
Deep Brown
Emerald Green
French Violet
Golden Olive *
Landscape Green
Marine Ultra
Naval Blue
Polished Ivory
Primary Yellow
Pure White
Rich Purple
Steel Blue
Teal
True Chartreuse
Violet *

Recommended for Lip Area only
Acid Orange
Bright Fuchsia
Electric Coral
Ruby Red

Not Recommended for Eye or Lip Area

Basic Red
Burnt Burgundy
Cool Pink
Dusty Coral
Genuine Orange
Grape
Nocturnal Plum
Pink Vivid
*Denotes a non-PRO shade.

Re: which pigments are not safe for eyes?
I have a sample of Grape pigment, i didn't know it was on the not safe for eyes list and I used it the other day! Didn't suffer any obvious ill effects, but what exactly are the reasons for not using it? should i stop using it? I'm sure i've seen some FOTDs here where people have used Grape pigment around the eye area...

Re: which pigments are not safe for eyes?
I hear you, a lot of people use colours that MAC has deemed not safe (ie glitters around eye) and some of those pigment colours. I assume MAC is covering their butt by saying these are not safe for X (not lip safe I assume because there is an ingredient that probably shouldn't be ingested, not eye safe because there may be an ingredient that could have the potential to harm your eye or enter the mucus membrane into your body).

So I don't know EXACTLY what it contains that makes it not safe, they're covering themselves if something bad should happen.

Any of the pigments sold on the MAC site, at current, are eye safe. That includes: Vanilla, Pink Bronze, Copper Sparkle and Tan.

All of the LE pigments that MAC has sold from the regular line within the last year or so are all eye safe. That includes: Rushmetal, Off the Radar and Gold Mode.

They have made a move to only sell eye safe pigments on the regular (not pro) site.

Note: MAC used to sell pigments which weren't eye safe on the regular site, so there is the possiblity that you may receive one of the older batches which was considered not eye safe. Which isn't to say that it isn't eye safe, they just hadn't tested it and therefore couldn't label it as eye safe.

I would imagine that receiving a pigment from a non eye safe batch at this point would be pretty unlikely though, as they have all been eye safe on the regular (not pro) site for some time now.

based on the color, i'm gonna say it's not considered eye safe.

some products are also considered not safe for certain areas because they haven't been tested for that area. it used to be that the only eye pencil safe for the waterline was fascinating. they hadn't gotten around to testing the other eye kohl colors. they have since been tested and all eye kohls, technakohls and kohl powers are waterline safe.

i use all pigments/glitters on my eyes without problems. try it at your own risk.
