Platinum Pigment Gone Bad?
Well, so I bought a BNIB Platinum pigment from a reputable seller on Ebay. When I opened it up, I noticed a strange smell...almost like crayons. I have tons of pigments and this has never happened before. What do y'all think?

Yeah, that's kinda how I feel too....it's a shame, though, because it looks really pretty in the jar!

No, it wasn't that particular seller. It was someone with a lot fewer feedbacks, but they were all positive...the username is yingyang04. I've sent a message asking about returning it, so we'll see.

Thanks! Another seller for me to avoid. I really hate receiving an item that has a weird smell because it happened to me in the past. I got sick from the smell. It was this rubbery smell that I couldn't stand. Hope the seller let you return the item and get a full refund.

hm... maybe it's just the metal pigments that smell like that. i just went to smell my copper (metal) pigment, and it does smell like crayons! and it's genuine as i bought it from the PRO store myself

My Platinum smells waxy and a little like crayons as well. It may just be the metallic pigments like was said before me.

I got mine from a pro store as well

This is not unusual. The PRO metal pigments have a tendancy to have a waxy or crayon-y odor due to their composition. This does increase over time as the metallic pigments of which they are comprised react with the atmosphere.
