I've been looking into some professional makeup brands such as Kryolan, Ben Nye and Nixie because of the good color payoff but was wondering if these brands are suitable for daily use/prolonged period? I hear that they are very good for photoshoots and stage but are they supposed to be removed quickly? Or can we just use them like any other drugstore/department brand?

Im pretty sure they can be used for the majority of the day - though i think this depends on the product, grease paint and specialist (theatre) products being examples. I know a lot of people use Kryolan and Ben Nye eyeshadows etc for day wear - amazing colour ranges, but make sure to take it off before bed as vivid colours tend to stain! Also Ben Nye makeup sealant has had great reviews, however i havent tried it myself.

Ive worn Kryolan type 'face paint' makeup on the eye area all day and i had no ill effects other than staining (came off by morning). Unless you have really sensitive skin, i suggest you try it and see. Just be extra careful not to get liquid products directly in your eye.

They're safe for the most part I wouldn't go out in stage makeup foundation unless it's been thinned out; you want your skin to be able to breathe.

I do a lot of theatrical makeup (I'm an actor/musician), and most of what isn't MAC in my kit is Ben Nye or Kryolan. Both these brands are fine for daily use, although personally I find Ben Nye shadows a little difficult to blend, especially if you're using them coupled with MAC shadows. Certainly though, if you want colour pay-off, go with Ben Nye. A lot of the girls on here use the Lumiere Grande colours, which is a great place to start with that brand.
