silver and platinum metal pigments
i just read that these are not eye safe, not lip safe and above all... FLAMMABLE.
exactly how flammable? what ways have you guys used these pigments (and yes i've read the faq section, i'm looking for silver/platinum specifics that aren't used in hair or nail polish)? has anyone tried them on the eyes? i generally use non eyesafe pigments in the eye area and am fine. but the whole flammable caution makes me weary...

Yup me and my mom use Platinum all the time on our eyes!

And we had no problem at all!

Plus blinking doesn't set my eyes on fire!

They are pretty strongly flammable. I'm familiar with the pigments used to make these MAC pigments and they are pretty crazy. They I would not advise using them near candles, lighters, or anything else that could throw a spark.

These pigments can be used for body and face painting, and various other applications (as you mentioned, nail polish is quite nice with these). They do not have much application for street makeup however, when used in accordance to their precautions. They are more for theatrical and film work.

This is good know. I have some platinum pigment I was going to use on my eyes but in light of this information I think I will re-think that. With so many other products out there I am sure I can find something in that color range that will work.

I've used most of the metals on my eyes at one point in time or another any have had nothing happen, and I do have candles on alot in the house... so makes me wonder because really something on your skin, hair is more flammable then that, believe me I know that one very well so I would say its probley just one or two things in it and not a big deal but if you dont like it then dont use it

I always think this exact same thing when the flammable pigments are discussed. I have this vision of lighting a cigarette and setting my eyelids on fire, so needless to say I steer way clear of them. I won't even touch them when I go into a Pro store (I know that's probably a bit extreme, but it sort of freaks me out enough to take the precaution!).

I wouldn't wear them, because the safety of your eyes is so much more important than a bit of silver eyeshadow.
You scared me with that vision! I want to smoke witout my eyes combusting thanks, Lol

Meh - anyone who'd rather smoke than wear silver eyeshadow just isn't committed enough.

Lol. There are loads of silvers out there...to be honest I'd rather skip makeup and smoke if I had too.
