I'm not sure what causes it, but I've read about this happening to other people who use the wipes as well. I just bought the MAC wipes. I haven't tried them yet, but hopefully I'm not allergic.

I had the same sort of reaction. I started to get hives and a rash on my hands from using the wipes. I just stay away from them. I just stick to cleanse off too.

I just bought a whole bunch. They sting my eyes, but don't make them swell up. They DO make my face break out though. They give me tiny red dots ALL OVER my face and dry it out like crazy. I'm going to return these babies.

Well I just tried mine and nothing bad so far. It does make my skin a little more greasy feeling compared to my other wipes I normally use. Do your eyes start swelling right after you use the wipes?

Re: Something in the wipes & Pro Eyemakeup Remover...
my arms and hands broke out just the other day. i thought it was something in the older e/s but realized that i didn't do swatches on my arms. i have resolved to use baby wipes instead off the mac wipes.

Not right away.. but I woke up and forget it.. my eyes were so puffy and irritated. I will never forget when I was a model for a friends fashion show cert. We had to rotate artists and the chick I went to almost freakin made me blind!! I was in soo much pain that night from the wipes and cleansing tips. I figured it was cause she wasnt gentle but when I got the products myself I experienced the same problem. Oh well.. I can still use them in my kit for others.

Re: Something in the wipes & Pro Eyemakeup Remover...
Maybe I am misunderstanding people about baby wipes but are they safe to use for eye make-up? I am sensitive to a lot of eye make-up removers and a wipe would be great to get most of it off and then cleanse my face and get the rest. Someone told me they used Almay eye wipes but both types they have sting my eyes. Any help would be appreciated.

Re: Something in the wipes & Pro Eyemakeup Remover...
They sting! I think they are horrible, personally. I'm not surprised to read that they irritate others. I bought some cheap no name brand makeup wipes from the drugstore that were a lot less expensive, and no stinging whatsoever. I'd try some different ones out, not MAC. There are so many brands making these now, there's no need to stick with MAC if it's stinging or irritating your eyes.

Re: Something in the wipes & Pro Eyemakeup Remover...
I always use SIMPLE ones - it's a really good brand, get them from any drugstore (I think - well you can in the UK, not sure about America and other places?), and I'd be VERY surprised if anyone reacted to these! And they're amazing, wipe away every single last trace of make up and leave your skin feeling fresh. I swear by them!

Update: Plus you can get different ones depending on your skin type if you really wish too so you're definitely going to have fresh skin! And they're really gentle!

UPDATE AGAIN: I've recently been to my doctor about oily skin (due to the pill I'm on) and she asked me what skincare I use.. Clinique (I know it's bad but it does work for me) and Simple - she told me that a lot of people do react to Simple products..which REALLY shocked me as I suffer from excema now and again and I've never had a problem with their products!!... so if you can get this out in America then be wary that they MAY react with your skin!

Re: Something in the wipes & Pro Eyemakeup Remover...
I think they have fragrance in them; I've noticed that a lot of wipes that people report stinging or burning from have fragrance in their ingredients. If you think about it, it's basically like rubbing perfume in your eyes. Or they may even have traces of soap which is why they would take make up off so well, but sting like hell. Even our Sephora brand ones sting a little, because they have fragrance on them unfortunately, so I no longer use them on anybody.
Wipes that I've noticed don't sting: Shiseido Pureness Refeshing Cloths, Ole Henriksen Purifying Eye Pads and the cheap Target brand makeup removing wipes.

Re: Something in the wipes & Pro Eyemakeup Remover...
I don't know about the stinging but the smell of the MAC makeup wipes alone make me a little ill. Must be that fragrance.

Re: Something in the wipes & Pro Eyemakeup Remover...
It is to do with the fragrance. They smell so strong; if I swipe something on my hand at the counter and remove it after, the smell stays there all day. And they're oil based, and every oil based remover I've tried makes me blind for a few minutes after.

I've used Johnsons Baby Wipes to remove my make up for as long as I can remember... at least 5 years and I've never had any problems. Same with my mum. They don't irritate my skin at all, i'm sure if they're safe for babies 'down there' then they're safe for eyes. They remove liquidlast liners as easy as wink (no pun intended).

Plus.... why spend all that money on something (mac wipes) which really you're going to be throwing away at the end of the day?
