Best of Smashbox and Nars? New to range- suggestions?
I'm a bit of a beauty junkie, but since discovering Mac I've had blinkers on to all other make up brands. I hear time and time again about Smashbox and Nars and just wondered if people could recommend the must have products from these ranges? What are everyones favorites? I know with Mac certain things are popular, like the mineral powders and nude lipsticks. But what Smashbox and Nars products should I buy?

i love nars blushes. i know you've probably read from more than enough people raving about the blushes but the blush from nars have really great colors that are not overpowering on any skintone. also, they've got some great duo eyeshadow colors.
i like smashbox brushes. i also like their skin tint.

I like Nars' blushes, powder, lipsticks, lip glosses, and eye shadows.
I've only tried Smashbox's lip gloss, and I've liked that

nars- lipsticks, powder, blushes, eyeshadows, and multiples.
smashbox- softlights (they are light beauty powders), lipglosses, and primer.

I haven't tried anything by NARS.
But I really like Smashbox's eyeshadows, lipglosses and the soft lights powders I think?

nars - body glow, blushes, and eyeshadows. the only down fall in my opinion about nars is their packaging, it is hard to travel with because everything is in individual compacts.
smashbox - lip glosses, brushes, & photo finish. i love the line, ( partly because i work for them ) & i think in time they will be heavy hitters, both nars and smashbox.

NARS makes great everything (no, I don't work for them)! Foundations and powders especially, you can not go wrong with the multiples or the blushes, and the lipsticks are amazing!
I like the packaging too because they line up sp well in traincases during travel.
Smashbox makes nice glosses, and they have cute sets like "Masterclass" a few times a year, which can be a bargain.

It's hard to give colour recommendations without your colouring, everyone has a different skin tone.
I really like the Nars blushes. Have you checked out the separate Nars and Smashbox forums on Specktra? I'm sure you can find a wealth of information there as well.

I agree with MissChievous....
But I just bought one of the Smashbox Master Classes Vol. 2 sets, and I feel like my skill has increased and I know what I'm doing now! The sets are like, $60 a piece, and you get SO much with them - I would HIGHLY recommend looking into getting one (or a couple) of the sets. Best of luck!

Re: Best of Smashbox and Nars? New to range- suggestions?
im in love with smashbox lipsticks. especially Charming. its a lovely nudie pink with shimmer. the eyeshadows are nice too, i depotted 10 or so and they fit in with the mac ones in palettes
NARS i love everything.
the oil free foundations (im nc30 and barcelona, nc35 in summer and sahara)
the brushes (12 and 13 are fabulous for any smokey eyed look, the best crease brushes ive ever used in my life)
blushes (luster, gilda, lovejoy are my faves)
lipstick (mitzi, belle du jour, dolce vita)
glosses (chihuahua, dolce vita, orgasm)
shadows (bali is the most amazing cool brown - great for everyday crease or for filling in brows. Voyageand Faith are gorgeous and there are tons of gorgeous duos like Key Largo or All About Eve)
Nars is kind of my obsession

I love smashbox! My favorites are their brushes, primers, and the softlights. I also love their cream eye liners. You can usually get really good deal on smashbox kits on QVC. About 2x a year they have a tsv(todays special value) and I get a box of 9 or so items for $50. You can't beat it!
