MAC FAQ: Eye shadow texture breakdown
FROST
An iridescent shine that adds a highlight to any colour.
These are probably what you think of first when you think eye shadow. A fine sheen that varies some from color to color. Applied it has a pearly appearance.
LUSTRE
Smoothly pearlized; intensely frosted with deluxe ultra-fine "conditioned" finish.
A very flaky sparkle, similar to a pressed version of frost or rose pigment. Very sparkly and glittery, though some have problems getting lustre shadows to adhere to the skin.
MATTE
Hi-colour pay-off in a no-shine matte finish.
Your traditional matte shadow. No shine, no glitter, just a matte chalk-like finish and dense color.
SATIN
Pure colour in a satin-style finish. Provides a soft subtle non-frost, light-refractive sheen.
Satin shadows vary a lot color to color. Some seem almost completely matte, while others have a subtle pearly sheen, and still others have a high sheen almost identical to a frost.
VELUXE
Superfine pigment rich and very luxe. Supple to apply. Provides silky smooth matte finish.
A sheer, smooth, matte shadow. Designed to apply sheerly yet to layer without looking chalky or feeling heavy. Very customizable color density.
VELUXE PEARL
Vibrantly-toned. Velvety soft. Shimmeringly metallic. Veluxe eye shadow, now overlaid with high-shine pearl.
A very strong pearl to almost metallic finish. Very smooth texture, almost to a fault on some skins where these can become smeary.
VELVET
Soft look finish with high-colour intensity. Has a plush velvety look and feel.
Matte with glitter thrown in. Depending on the shade, some have larger glitter and a grainier matte base than others.
MINERALIZE
Velvet-soft eye colour that fuses sophisticated tones with high metallic ultra-luxe frost to bring a smooth, rich shimmer to the eye.
Designed to be used wet or dry. A baked pearl finish shadow.

Juiced, like Bitter, is one of the more subtle of the velvets. It does have a slight pinkish shimmer to it. This is the thing with velvets, they vary from obvious glitter (like in black tied) to barely there as in Juiced and Green Tea.

Re: MAC FAQ: Eye shadow texture breakdown
Woot! So happy to see this info. The MAC finishes had been confusing me for ages... then I ended up thinking "wut the heck~ as long as I don't buy matte, I don't care what are the differences between the other finishes"
