This is one of the first MAC products I've bought (aside from pigments) and I'm very pleased. I happened to grab both Opal and Pink Poodle off eBay and when I got them in the mail today, I was totally afraid to let them come anywhere near my face! I'm about an NW20 and Opal is a medium purple...and my first thought was, "D*** it! Why do I always have to wish I'm black to pull this crap off??". (I have a few things in my collection that were soo made for someone more than a few shades darker than me...hence the frustration.) But then my little white butt screwed up the courage to try it (remembering that Spring Bean is green and people still like it because it turns pink on them.) I was pleasantly surprised to find that Opal turns into a nice pretty shade of pink too. Unlike Pink Poodle, you can layer this one on pretty thick and it doesn't turn the shade in the bottle. (I have 2 wand coats on and it's still a semi-transparent pearly pink.) And the gloss lasts for ever...at least compared to my other glosses. Probably only because it doesn't taste yummy.
So, all in all, it's a great first buy and I'm very pleased with myself. So go out and buy one.

it is a medium lilac violet color in the tube but on ur lips its a pretty pearly sheer sparkley tone! i love it.. i have tan skin and it works beautifully against it! all the sparkle and the very very light violet color that shows on ur lips is sooo pretty
