80's animated film buffs, I need your help!

Hey all, so I'm experiencing some crazy nostalgia right now and I am dying to remember the name of this movie! Though the teeny memory I have is so old I only remember a few things about it. Here goes...

I'm pretty sure it was made in the 80's. It was an animated film. A fantasy film, really obscure. Plot wise, (gosh I hardly remember any of it at all)
there was a sort of "evil over lord" who was trying to take over. I think he captured a woman (a princess or something) and held her hostage, trying to get her to see his way. One of the key things I remember is he had a monologue and during that he said something like "evil is LIVE backwards." I think he was telling that to one of his minions...

If anyone has ANY idea of what I'm talking about please reply!

I'm sorry I can't provide more information and that this is all so vague, I was really young when I saw it so those are the only memories I have

I've been googling like crazy and discovered other 80s fantasy films but not this one so I figured I'd ask you guys here

eta: hmm...I think I may have viewed this on MTV, maybe it was a made for MTV movie? Ugh my brain hurts!
