Try asking for surgical spirit or even just plain old Isocol.

I prefer surgical spirit because it has a minute quantity of oil in it that aids in powder binding.

Re: Where can I find ALCOHOL for pressing PIGMENTs?
Most people use Isopropyl Alcohol (70%) but Lara is spot on with the surgical spirit, otherwise known as methylated spirit or 'metho'. The element of oil present assists with binding and is commonly used in the art world for that very purpose.

Acetone and drinking alcohol are different substances altogether. Thought I'd mention this as they often go hand in hand in threads such as this.

Why would you require Isopropyl 99% though? It's highly flammable and really only used for industrial work. It's also a toxin. Suppresses your central nervous system. This is part of the reason why you won't get it readily available to you. Not a good idea to use indoors. Actually, not a good idea to use, period.

That said, you'll get the Isopropyl 70% at supermarkets, hardware stores and pharmacies.
