MAC can't jack up prices on existing products too much without risking upsetting it's customer base. It's a Mid priced cosmetic line after all. But I've noticed that several of it's new products are priced at or over high end cosmetics (Dazzleglass and now Solar bits), when you do the quantity vs. price analysis. I know that they've had to do product development, but they've released other new products in the past without having the product costing double the price of other comparable products in the line.
That being said, these are gorgeous, but I bet there is going to be massive sticker shock when people open the containers and see how little product is in the jar. Kind of the cosmetic equivalent of "Where's the beef?".
Thank you! I don't want to start with German prices for MAC now.

I also prefer Vanilla or Jardin Aires over Lily White.

It is fun playing with them, but now I put a couple of pieces of paper towel under the container before I open them, to deal with the mess.
I also checked for fallout this afternoon. Nothing really visible unless you shine a flashlight on your face (which one of my fellow mad chemists did in an effort to prove it). So not too shabby for adhering capability.
I was just reading the original product description for these and this is what it says:
"Crush for full color and sparkle effect; for a light shimmer, sweep your brush over the top of the clusters."
I'm sure Erine will have some great advice, but in the meantime...has anyone tried crushing them (maybe on the inside of the lid?) or just sweeping the brush very lightly over them so as not to pick any clusters up but just pick up whatever pigment rubs off onto the brush? Having not seen them I have no idea if that makes sense but that's what I'm getting from this comment in the product description....

Yes, I tried the crushing on the back of my hand first & that did make it easier to apply. Using the brush over the top is ok, it still picks up the tiny little beads...messy. You still get the same color.
If you look closely at the promo pic, she has it around & under her eyes, & it also looks like she has one of the lighter shades dusted on the cheek area next to the nose.

As for the solar bits, what about using a mixing medium? That's what I plan on doing. They are just to pretty to pass up!! Especially that Black Ore which will be MINE!!!

Re: Neo Sci-fi, Solar Field, And Future Earth
Hey all, just wanted to let you know that my MA at the freestanding store let a little slip yesterday...she said that this collection would be released a week ahead of schedule. I'm not sure if it's true because another MA said they'd be doing preorders, so we'll have to see. My MA however seemed a little guilty that she had let that slip, while the other seemed to be "covering" if you know what I mean. So if you're excited about this collection you all may be seeing it a bit sooner then anticipated.
