Re: 187 brush
Definitely a have to have brush. I use this sucker everyday and it is totally worth how much you pay for it!

Re: 187 brush
I think this is the best MAC investment I've made. I was having trouble getting my Porcelain Pink MSF to show up and a MA told me to get this. It's so nice -- it's really soft and works really well to buff out MSF to make a nice healthy glow without looking like you should be wandering down the Vegas strip. It's so nice I talked my mom into buying one for herself, and she absolutely adores it (this is a woman who was all about the applicators that came in Clinique packaging, so that really says something). I've had mine for 2-3 years and it's holding up really well... even though I've abused the heck out of it (bad washing) a few times.

Re: 187 brush
Do 187 and 188 work with loose mineral blushes and such? All my blushes, bronzers, highlighters, finishing powders and foundations are loose minerals (Everyday Minerals, Pure Luxe & Lumière). I'm wondering if I actually need these brushes or not... Didn't quite get the hang of the skunk brush I got from Everyday Minerals.

Re: 187 brush
Ok so one of my major flaws is that I constantly fail to read through entire threads, so forgive me if this has already be said,
I also think that M.A.C's #187 brush is amazing and extremely versatile, I actually have a few of them. It’s quite possibly the best brush they’ve released. I love the look of the application and the feel of the brush! I use it for blending, blush, liquid/cream/powder foundation, powders and bronzers. I do find that the #188 brush is slightly useless if you already have the #187. I only really use the #188 for my highlighting/countering and some blending.
I did also notice that some people were unhappy with the #187 brush, is this because of the coverage it gives you? Since the #187 brush’s synthetic fibers are more sparse than a powder or blush brush, it will give you very light coverage, so you may not be achieving the look you want. M.A.C Macy's as well as Nordstrom’s seem more then happy to exchange a product, so if you are unhappy with it don’t forget you DO have the option to take it back!!!

Re: 187 brush
I've had the 187 for awhile. I used it for my cream blushes at first. I just recently got the Studio fix liquid and the MA told me to get the 192. Sooo I used that for a couple of weeks.. though it did give me great coverage, I wanted a lighter one for the day time.. I just used my 187 today using my SF liquid and I was surprised! It gave me so-so coverage but the application WAS like an airbrush look... I'll be switching between 192 and 187..
sorry for the lengthy story but you should buy the 187! It's so versatile... you could use it with everything!

Apple, I purchased my skunk brush [very similar to the MAC 187] from Everyday Minerals about a year ago and never really used it that much because I didn't "get it" either.... LOL. I forget his name, but there's a Korean? makeup artist who's posted tons of makeup tutorials on Youtube. Try using keywords 187 vs. 190 to find him, very informative.
Now that I've figured it out, I actually prefer using the skunk brush for applying Everyday Minerals foundation over the kabuki brush because the coverage is lighter, yet buildable if you want more. To apply foundation, I turn the container upside down so the powder will slip through the sifter and into the lid. With the kabuki brush, I tended to pick up too much MMU; with the skunk brush, I punch the white bristles into the lid to pick up powder. Think about why this is called stippling. Then I stipple the powder onto needed areas of my face, then swirl the brush all over to buff it in. If I think I need any more coverage [I usually don't, I like to keep it light] then I'll pounce another layer on my face and swirl it all around again. Sometimes I'll go all over with the 'buki brush, but it's usually not necessary.
Then I continue with my skunk brush to pounce some silk/pearl powder on my face to set everything and control oil. IN the winter, my skin is a little more dry, so I'll follow up with a mist and allow to dry before I continue with blush, also applied with my everlovin' skunk brush. I've been liking this so much I'll probably get a couple more and may even bust out for the MAC 187 although I've been very pleased with my Everyday Minerals skunk brush.
Hope this helps!
Athena

Re: 187 brush
Thanks, Athena! Guess who sold the EM skunk brush away after trying it maybe once or twice with a blush that didn't apply evenly no matter what you did. Pure genius...
Now that the EM brush has been discontinued it sounds like I might be needing two of those 187's... Maybe I'll start with one and get another if it works. Thank you ladies!

Re: 187 brush
Great brush for MSF and darker colour blushes like NARS Mouria.
Does provide air-brush feeling, really like it.

Re: 187 brush
I normally have oily skin (also acne prone) but because of the skin care I've been using it's basically made my skin "normal" but because of the cold, dry winter here in Ohio I've been on the dry side lately, which is strange for me (being an oily girl most of my life...).
I normally wear mineral makeup (Everyday Minerals) and I LOVE it, and I haven't used a liquid foundation for years but because I've been so dry lately I decided to look into some liquid foundation. So, I went to MAC and they suggested Studio Fix liquid in NW20 with a 187 brush.
I've heard the hype about the 187 so I decided to give it go and I got to tell you it makes the application of the Studio Fix look flawless on me. I can't believe how much of a difference the brush makes. I barely use any foundation, and it still covers wonderfully, and the brush makes it look airbrushed and I don't feel like I'm wearing foundation either, which is one reason I use to hate liquid foundation.
I love the 187!

Ah, encoremakeup that's the guy, thanks for posting this link! The first time I saw the 187 brush in action was around Christmas when I got a makeover done at the MAC counter. I didn't like the foundation but it was the first time I'd seen liquid foundation applied with a brush. Then I found this video when I was trying to figure out how to use my EDM skunk brush thingie

Aw apple that stinks and I hate to say this but reading your post made me laugh WITH you, not AT you.... For the longest time I asked myself why the hell did I get this brush? I only used it to apply loose powder blushes and thought that was the only thing it was good for until just a few months ago. Glad I hung onto it, wish EDM was still selling them because I compared this to the Sephora Brand stippling brush at $35 USD and think the EDM skunk brush is better. And yes, I'm looking for a couple more. Now that it's winter and my skin is looking dry, I switched from EDM to NCN liquid mineral and using this brush makes all the difference during application.
