Re: Are the 187 stippling brush and 182 kabuki BOTH necessary?
Personally, I think the 182 is one of the best face brushes there is - but they i really like to buff my powder make up all the time.

I also own the 187... I may be the only person to say this, but I don't love it. Find it a bit difficult to use when it comes to applying blush and msfs - prefer to use my 182 for these. I'm just happy I bought it in the states as it was cheaper than if I bought it over here. I have used it for applying liquid foundation which came out nice, but I now prefer to use the 109 for foundation.

i can't live without my 187 brush and my kabuki as well :| but the kabuki one isn't from mac the one i saw at mac stor wasn't fluffy enough for me ;p

but i think they r a must if u prefare to have a natural flawless look .. they smooth ur foundation .. powders ... highliters ... when ever i over put on my blusher my kabuki is always there to soften the colors for me ... i just love them !!!!

i have the 187 but not the 182. i think they serve diff purposes. i use my 187 for either foundation and mostly for my msfs. the 182 is usually used for buffing and powder.

I love the 187, it works great with liquid foundation. But since I use liquid foundation only like twice a year, it's not been used much. So 182 is better for me since I use Studio Fix Powder everyday

I don't think the 187 neccessary, when i first bought it i was in love and thought i'd never live without it, but the only thing i used it for was applying liquid foundations, but i have found many other ways to do said applying

I do, however, think the 182 or a similar brush is necessary; obviously depending on the make up you use though

I don't own the 182 yet, but definitely want it next time. I love my 187 and use it for MSF and blushcreme.

187 = LOVE. For me anyways :P I use it everyday for Studio Fix Fluid, and it can be used for blushes and MSF's as well.
I have the 182 as well, and I use it to put on Blot Powder (I don't use the applicator when I'm at home) and it works pretty well.

Re: Are the 187 stippling brush and 182 kabuki BOTH necessary?
i use mineral foundation and i own the #187 and #183.

Right now I use a blend of silk naturals and everyday minerals. I am also using a finishing powder from sheer cover that i am trying to finish up. Everyday minerals has the most coverage in any mineral foundation i have tried. You might wanna check out some reviews. The samples are dirt cheap.

the 182/183 is pretty useless unless you use mineral/powder foundation. They are used to buff/apply/blend powders on the face. Some people use it to blend in blush after application as well to smooth out harsh lines. You can use it to apply setting powder after liquids as well.

187 is useful for both liquid, powders and minerals. I personally don't use liquids, but after my mineral makeup, i spray my face with charged water or fix+ and then i take the 187 to stipple/dab (not buff) my face to fix my dry spots. I don't like to just spray my face. It gives a better finish and is more even on the face. You could also use this brush for msfs, blush etc. 187 is so multipurpose.

Re: Are the 187 stippling brush and 182 kabuki BOTH necessary?
I own both and i really think they are very different.I think stippling gives you a lighter touch, softer and ethereal look to whatever you apply(foundation, blush). It also works great blending. And kabuki gives you more coverage in my opinion,it holds more product and have a stronger effect,if that makes sense.I find foundation covers more and blushes look bolder when i use this. Also is excellent for blending.
Hope this helps.

THE stippling brush can be used for foundation, powder or after applying fix + to set everything

Re: Are the 187 stippling brush and 182 kabuki BOTH necessary?
I have 187 & 182 and heart them both very much.

I use a liquid foundation and a powder/mineral foundation and love the 182 to apply both! Using the 182 to apply liquid foundation is amazing, it creates a beautiful flawless finish and blends superbly!

The 187 is also fantastic for creme blush, a light dusting of a vibrant powder blush, bronzer, or whatever!

These are my 2 favorite must have face brushes!!

I feel the same hate toward Bare Minerals as you do...lol. Maybe even worse...

But I actually love the natural Mineralized Skinfinishes from MAC. They're pressed...or I guess, "baked"...lol....into a dome shape in a compact. They are really nice. They keep my skin looking much more fresh than Bare Minerals and are longer wearing, IMO. I also haven't had any weird break outs form them like I did with BM. They work beautifully with the 182.

My 182 should be arriving this week. I use both liquid and mineral foundation and both pressed and loose powders so look forward to trying out all the uses you guys have suggested.

Re: Are the 187 stippling brush and 182 kabuki BOTH necessary?
I have studio fix fluid. I used the 187 to apply it, but i thought it was too soft and it left my face streaky, now I still apply my foundation with the 187 but then buff (msf) with a kabuki! the 187 +182 work wondersss together

I love the 187. Its great for blushes (as mentioned). I actually like to use ModelCos spray bronzer for face. I spray it directly on the 187 and then buff the bronzer into my face.

It gives a nice "airbrushed" quality to the skin.
