Broken MSF
After a long loooong time I finally was able to swap for a Pleasureflush and guess what...I got it shattered in the mail today
I don't know what to do. I am scared to try to fix it and mess up the color or something. I know I could put it in a jar but I wanted it in the pan, ahhhh.

aaack, that sucks! i'm so sorry, and especially that it had to happen to pleasureflush!

from what i know, a 10g or larger sifter jar would be your best option. from what others have said on LJ, you can't really repair MSFs using alcohol the way you can eyeshadows, since the MSFs are baked...hopefully someone else will have a better suggestion? i shattered a stereo rose, and finally just crushed the thing down into a fine powder using the flat top of a sample jar, then filling 5g jars and throwing 'em in as samples and freebies in packages..

Well, I guess for an MSF it was not well packed. It was in a bubble envelope and one payer or bubble wrap. I will post some pics of it. I have a feeling that it was broken a while ago because it looks like there are pieces missing but it could just be me. Let me know what you think.

They are in my gallery on mua moni77

I honestly don't see why you couldn't make an alchol paste with the MSFs. It prob won't look the same but it will have the same effect when using it! Try that.

That's suck . I'd be torn to file w/ the PO (if you bought insurance) b/c I think they take the item away

I'm amazed at how ppl treat the MSFs given all the horror stories of them being broken from not packaging right. Shipping in the priority boxes filled w/ peanuts & several layers of bubble wrap should be used....although it reminds me of in elementary when we had to make egg "parachutes" and drop our eggs from progressively higher distances to see who won. The box w/ twinkies in it for cushioning was the only one that made it from the roof (our school was 2 stories high). i don't recommend twinkies though.

I looked at your pics, I wouldn't grind it up for the sifter just yet. Maybe get a tupperware (?) and leave it in chunks so the veining & stuff is still kinda intact & use it like ppl do the meteorites.

though i believe poor packaging of a pleasureflush resulting in it's demise is a crime (at least it is still useable though)

that's because MSF's are a different formula than normal powder products like pressed powder, blushers and e/s.
MSF's are baked for 24 hours and I've heard people saying that you can try to fix them with water, but NEVER with alcohol, because it will destroy the formula.

MAC_addict77: I've been told that broken msf's are best used in a srewtopcontainer with sifter when it's toatally crushed, and when it's in two pieces in a srewtop containter, and as long as you don't mix it with alcohol, it will still give the same effect. still, it sucks though...

I think I am just going to take the broken pieces off since only the dome broke and the pan still has solid stuff in it. I will put them in a jar and use it as a shadow But of course, it HAD to be pleasureflush.

I've done two things with broken mineralized things. stereo rose ended up crushed and thrown in a jar. tres teal (the mineralized eye shadow) was pressed back in place using water instead of alcohol. it works fine, but looks like a pile of blue mush.

Whenever little chunks of my blushes break off (including some of my MSF) I put in a jar together and then I come up with a really neat flushed color that is really unique to me. Since most of my blushes stay in the same family color and they are true to me... it works great for me =)

Whenever I use it I just carefully gather all the colors on one side by sifting the jar before I open it and then I take a brush and I run it over... it's like Estee Lauder's petal blush?

I think I will just leave it alone. I don't want to make it worse (if that is possible)

I do believe the "solid stuff" is just the terracotta base. I broke one of my Petticoats and tried scraping off what I thought was powder, but it was hard! So I depotted it and well, the whole base is just a big piece of terracotta. There wasn't that much product after all.

Hmmm, I honestly don't know what to say. I don't think there is enough of a noticable difference to say that there are pieces missing. Still, see what you can do through the insurance. I would definitely let the seller/swapper know that it was broken and possibly leave neutral feedback. I have sent and swapped my MSFs through the mail and have never had this problem. I believe that with a little extra care, this can easily be avoided. To me, it is clear that your sender did not take the extra precautionary measures to ensure the safety of a very expensive item. I think you should make them aware of that.

HTH! So sorry to hear about your MSF!!

Nothing constructive to add but just had to post that that is the saddest sight I've ever seen.

RIP
