Question Fluidlines as bases
How do these size up? Specifically, has anyone tried Frostlite as a base?

I used Macrovelvet as a base yesterday with kitchmas and maroon pigments over it, and it lasted for 11 hours without creasing or anything.

Definately what I plan on using for a base from now on.

How would you apply them? I'm thinking of getting another fluidline (I have blacktrack) so it would be great if I could use it as a base.

i use my 242 to apply the fluidline as base, then 272 or another 242 to apply shadow... i apply a light dusting of the shadow soon after i apply the fluidline when it's still not fully dry yet so the shadow will stick to it, let that dry then add another layer of shadow.. i like frostlite as a base for the lighter colors like metamorph and pink papillon.. it makes the color stand out brighter.. hth =)

They're awesome as bases! I used Macroviolet the other day and it worked beautifully. Lasted 10+ hours without creasing or fading.

I have Frostlite, but it applies a little thinly. When I try to build color up (to get a more opaque base) it just kind of smears around. But overall, it's great. Just remember that it is a little sheer.

I have that problem as well. I've used Frostlite as a base, but I find that as I try to layer the color to get more intensity it just moves around the layer underneath it and removes color.

Another caution:

Although I have every Fluidline there is, I am experiencing some interesting reactions with it.

Some days it wears like iron and other days, it comes off smeary and flaky.

The same color can be perfect one day and not another.

One thing that affects it is using eye creams or Bi-facils or other oily makeup remover the night before. Even washing does not always take off the oils.

I have dry lids as a rule, so this is a new thing for me.

A mild astringent helps some if I let it dry thoroughly before applying the makeup.

If I use my #242 brush to apply it, and apply light dusting of pigment to set it, it seems to be okay most of the time.

It is interesting stuff to work with and I am experimenting daily to see what its limitations are.

Blue Peep is the best staying power of any of them so far on me, but I have yet to work a lot with brassy or silverstroke

i agree with colorqueen. don't put your eye cream on if u r going to use fluidline as a base.. it will slide right off and won't stick well.. :!:
