Full Pigment jars = how many teaspoons?
Hi,

I have the chance to buy 1tsp. of Coco, but to decide how much I want to pay for it, I need to know how many portions would make a full jar? Is 1tsp. about 1/5 fullsize? Or even less? Please help me out. TIA!

As it says in the link to the thread above, I think it really depends on the pigment. I split a jar of Lily White with someone and I could still fill at least 8 of those little sample jars. Still, I am sure others couldn't be spread that far.

Well there are 3 teaspoons in a tablespoon, so if there are 3 tablespoons in a jar there are nine teaspoons.

But there is only 1 tablespoon in a pigment. (3 teaspoons - you can fill up about 12 1/4 tsp samples).

I have a BNIB Coco Pigment that I just checked. I pack my pigments down before opening them to get a realistic view of how much product is in the jar and how dense the pigment is. (Just tap the jar on a table a few times to allow the pigment to settle)

Coco looks pretty full, but its not full to the brim where the plastic insert will leave an indentation on the product. But Coco is really dense, so that makes sense.

1tsp is 1/3 of the jar

This has been so useful! When people are talking 3 teaspoons per pigment, is this heaped? So tempted to buy samples but dont want to fork out for a few measly grains!

According to THIS measurement conversion site (and a couple of others - I double-checked before I started selling myself), the 7.5 gram jar holds approximately 1 1/2 teaspoons of pigment. Now, GRANTED that you can shake up pigment and "fill your jar again", this is cheating the customer out of pigment because it will simply settle down and there won't be 1/4 or 1/2 tsp that you originally filled it with while fluffed up.

I've personally been getting around 3-4 1/2 tsps (1 1/2 to 2 tsps total) out of a jar, being that it's packed by weight, sometimes you get a bit more than the actual measure.
