MAC brushes...where do they get their hair from?
I know that the hair in non-synthetic brushes are sheared but does anybody know where MAC gets those hair from?
Do they cooperate with a zoos, stud-farms or something?

Haha - in all honesty I have no idea! If I remember correctly, their brushes are manufactured in France...?

If you get in touch with MAC and they let you know, be sure to keep us in the loop!

Life's burning questions...

Hmm, all my MAC brushes say made in Japan or made in China (kabuki 182) Since I have purchased all of mine from my counter, I know they aren't fakes. I'd kind of like to know how they are made too.

I think the white bristled ones are made of Goat hair, but don't hold me to it.

Yeah some are even made out of pony hair! But I'm always very curious about origins!

ok, a serious answer, as much as it pains me
the animals are combed, their hair is then separated by length and quality etc and it determines which brush it'll be used for.

VV - I think Cool Kitten was only trying to be helpful, I'm sure you don't mean it, but your reply *might* come off as sounding a bit rude. Please ladies, let's just keep things nice I'm not saying that you're being rude, but that your words might appear so.

Perhaps the best thing to do would be to email MAC and ask them?

I'm sure that as a cosmetics company that is committed to avoiding animal cruelty, they most likely get the hair in a non-cruel way, much like how sheep are still alive when shorn for their wool? I have read of other companies making their cosmetic (and artistic) brushes using non-cruel, animal-friendly methods.

What do you think?
