Tips and Tricks from my class with Victor C (LONG)
Victors favorite brush is 109-In our class we were told this is a pro brush altho I see a 109 on MAC's site. The one I bought does look different than the one online, but I can't imagine it is. We were told this isn't sold at counters. He loves to use this for cream products and even liquid foundation. With Studiostick just swipe it on various sections of your face, buff in with the brush and stiple where you need extra coverage. For other formulas either dip the brush in the cream (like Studiotech) or for liquid, put some one your hand, dip the brush and then apply to face.
He loves Invisible Set Powder-it does double the duty of controlling oilies than regular powder and give the skin a velvety finish. It appears white in the tub, but disappears on every skin tone.
He uses bronzer on nearly everyone. Apply it to your cheekbones and temples, in a V downwards from the center of your forehead, a little on the chin and maybe a little on the sides of your neck. He likes the 187 for this.
If you want the smokey look like JLO-he uses either the 259 or the 272 for applying color under the eye and then feathering it out.
The one brush he feels you should have in your arsenal for eyes is 252 for laying down color on the lid and under the brow. 224 is ideal for applying and blending out crease colors.
He does the same eye design on everyone-light color like Vanilla under brow, mid-tone like Kid in crease and the fun colors on the lid-one color on the outer half of eye and another on the inner half. He does not suggest that you do a one color eye-like various shades of blue from lash line to brow-instead save the blues for the lid. Adding a light pop of color to the inner eye near the tear duct is a great way to add focus to the eye.
The other big tip was with the blending in the crease - use that circular motion, ladies! he said a lot of people tend to just drag the brush across the crease, and you end up with a big old racing strip, not so cute. So start with running it across, but on the outer edge, use small circular motion to blend blend blend.
For applying fluidliners he uses 266. His technique is to start at the outer corner with the angled tip to make the cat eye shape. Start you liner higher on the eye-where you would want it to end up-not down near the lashes and then make it bigger. Place the brush on your lid where you want the line to start and pull the brush down into your lashes-this helps avoid the grabbing of the color that can make the line look uneven or skippy. For most eye shapes he suggests lining 3/4 across. If you have a lot of open eye space like I do-you can go all the way across. Doing this with a black eyeliner is important if you are going to wear false eyelashes.
Victor on mascara-don't pull the wand up from the base to tips over and over. 1. It makes the tips too heavy and any curling will be minimized if not totally undone. 2. It makes the tips look like tree branches. Instead wiggle, wiggle, wiggle the brush at the base-really gunk it up at the base and then pull the mascara thru to the tips. It keeps mascara at the base to hold curl and gives the effect of a thicker base. The ends of lashes look defined but natural.
For false eyelashes-apply a thin line of adhesive to the base and then roll the lashes in a U shape for about 20 seconds. Use tweezers to hold them and then apply as close to your lash base as possible. Press the lashes on to your skin with your fingers. If you don't allow the adhesive to dry a little the lashes will not grab evenly and you will have bubbles. If it drys too much the lashes won't stick at all. MAC lashes are re-usable, but do not apply mascara to them if you plan to wear them more than once. The adhesive easily peels from the base for reuse and you can keep them in the case. Victor said they are good for up to 7 uses. MAC's adhesive is a surgical based latex product and the lashes come off really easy.
For lips: as most of us know-don't use a dark l/l with pale l/s! And use a lip brush, particularly with the lipstick. Victor felt that a lot of times when people just put the lipstick on without a brush, all the lipstick is put in the center - if we paint it on with a brush, we get a better, even coverage.
Other favorite brushes:187,116,168,224,217,252,266 or 263,219,239,208
Hope all of this makes sense. I know sometimes it's easier to "see" what I'm saying instead of reading it. LMK if I can clarify further.

Wow, great detail and so much info! I'll definitely have to check out the Invisible Set powder. Btw, if I were to use it w/ an MSF, should the powder come before the MSF?

Yes, after like blush I assume. You could do it before, but it might grab a little without something on top of the foundation-

No notes-I was the model so I had to try and remember it all in my head! This is just confirmation that I am a true addict-sort of like guys and cars-It just sticks in my head

Thanks--the eye shadow design he uses on everyone is the one I've been using for years, though a Christian Dior MA told me that's what she does specifically for Asian eyelids.
