black eyeshadows seem to be a really big hit or miss...and i'm still searching for a really good black shadow (and so far it seems like Black Tied or Carbon are my only options, but i don't want to pay that much...). Ebony is black with lots of shimmer in the pot, but when applied there was little to no shimmer and the shadow fell all over my face - but i guess that's typical with black shadows. the color wasn't intensely black, either...it was more of a "washed-out" black (or "gray black") when applied. although i love Prestige cosmetics, this one disappointed me.
