MAC - Semi Precious Discussion

I am sort of disappointed in Karla's swatches of Feeling Flush. I may end up skipping all together. When I waffle this bad on items, it's a pretty good sign that I will go and impulse buy and regret it later. If I go to the counter, I will cave for sure, but I don't know if I *really* want the things on my list. *sigh*

It must be different lighting or something, but Warmth of Coral looks so much more peachy pink in Karla's swatches than Christine's. I thought I might skip on the blush because I have My Highland Honey (rather orangey-peach)... now I'm not sure.

Great look, Piarpreet! You look quite different in that picture to your avatar. Maybe it's the glasses?

thanks for the swatches piarpreet!

i never wear blue eyeshadows but the swatches are amazing. do you think this would work for me (blue eyes, N3, blonde)?

also, for those who tried it: can crystal pink be worn as a blush if you're really pale? i was hoping to use it as a light pink blush.

Hint of Sapphire will look gorgeous on you! I think Blue Sheen would be more limited, since it's much darker and more dramatic, but if you love that sort of thing, try it in a store and see.

Crystal Pink could be used as a sheer, very frosty blush or a very frosty all-over color for a pale person - the key is FROSTY and also GREYISH.

I'm going to get Geo Pink cremesheen and the 234 brush. That's it!

I don't believe you (heehee).

My list du jour:

- all four brushes (for no particular reason)
- Pressed Amber
- Goldstone (maybe)

If I'm lucky, I get away with 150 bucks

I kinda like the way Clarity is looking... can't wait to see it in stores. I like the 235 brush too.

So this is not a complete look but i wanted to show u guys how well/bad they apply on the lid.

Golden glaze looks amazing... maybe cos i love goldens in general (i have a lil "yellow" in my eyes. Easy to apply this is on top of concealer with ring finger.

Smoked rudy is soooo pretty; again just concealer and finger to apply it

its pretty but its not my favorite right now. U need to layer it, its not as rich as GG or SR.

it is the most beautiful on the pan as i said btu its a meh, very subtle, sheer on the lid :( its kinda sad.... I did layer it (3 layers rite der!) very very very subtle. Not sure id wear it much.

AND I forgot to take a pic of dark indulgence... Damn it!

BTW: THEY APPLY HORRIBLY WITH A NATURAL BRUSH... LIKE NO PIGMENTATION AT ALL. its best to apply with ring finger and then blend a lil with brush.

I think I'll skip Warmth of Coral MB since it will not suit my skintone and get Pressed Amber MB instead. Also I will not go look at Karla's swatches since my list is already big and trying to narrow my list.

Got Rose Quartz and Golden Gaze today! OMG Rose Quartz is amazing! It's soooo pretty especially on WOC. I almost want to back it up. Golden Gaze is pretty but not a must have, It's just a dirty gold. I picked up both eye brushes too and I like them so far but I beet to use them sone more before I can give an opinion. I'll update my blog post with new swatches tomorrow.

Audrey this is exactly how I feel too. I have gone back and forth and back and forth on this collection and there is a large part of me now that is saying skip it altogether.
Especially with so many MES. Is anyone really going to tell that these are different and special once they're actually on the eye??
I think this is a collection I need to see a lot more from before taking the plunge. The macro shots of the eye shadows look great, and Karla's arm swatches are gorgeous, but I want to see them in action, in FOTDs, over various bases, not just swatches. Piarpreet - thank you for showing these ON your eyes! You do look great, but I have to wonder if the look could be recreated with other colors?
I dunno....I have really been trying to make more thoughtful, purposeful purchases this year....and It's hard to figure out what really is unique and special to this collection. Especially when I have SO MANY products already - drawers and drawers full. Ugh. i am just confused.
And like Audrey, I don't want to make purchases on impulse that I'll later regret.
