MAC - Semi Precious Discussion

Another quckie make up look done here this morning.

I used Unsurpassable but instead of swirling it together, I used 3 small brushes to use a lime green section, a mid green section, and a bluish section - though in the look you don't see the blue. I used MAC Painterly as a base, Mineral Mode as a highlight. I used the lime from the inner corner to mid lid, thren the mid green from the middle of the lid to the outer corner blending it out and upwards, then I used the blue to darken the mid green on the upper lid and the crease. It literally took me 5 minutes because the MES was so smooth and easy to blend, these would be great to take away on holiday if you need to save space, esp if you get one with lots of variety in the veining. I used Clarity to line my lower lashes, and RQ MSF as a blush.

Sorry if no one is interested in seeing these looks, I feel like I'm over posting a bit but I love how these MES work, and I don't think a lot of the blogs give them the credit they deserve - I've seen Unsurpassble described as muddy, and bland but I think you if get one with veining and work with it, it can be anything but!

Thank you Rockin :) What did you end up with from this collection? I don't think I've seen you post yet, sorry if I missed it!
Mine just arrived :)

I got the 234 brush, Hint of Sapphire, Rare Find, Golden Gaze, Clarity, Gem of Roses and Geo Pink. I haven't had the chance to try them out yet. I'm also waiting for Unsurpassable, which I'll hopefully receive soon. Loving the sparkle, and how pretty they look in the pots

Great choices! I personally love HoS, GG, and Clarity is so so so pretty - and varies so much depending on the amount of black base in it . I haven't picked up GoR or Rare Find, though I definitely do want to go back for those, if they're still available when my funds allow - so do let me know how you find them all :)

You will adore Unsurpassable, I love it :) I'm gonna try and get Jade's Fortune, I know they can be similar but I love it so much!

Have fun playing with your goodies!!

Ladies who ordered from Debenhams, I received my order today by Royal Mail, thrown through my mail slot. My order came in a bubble envelope put inside a plastic mailing bag with Debenhams written all over it. I dislike it when retailers put their logo all over their packaging for online sales because I think it just says "Steal me, steal me! I have good stuff inside!" I'm glad I didn't order any of the mineralize products, as they could've been damaged by being dropped through the mail slot. Along with conflicting e-mails, I'm just not impressed and I can't see myself ordering from them again anytime soon.

I love reading about everyone's hauls and first impressions. I pre-ordered Golden Gaze and HoS MES, Musky Amethyst, and Feeling Flush blush but they won't be arriving till the 20th. Can't wait! Now after reading through this thread, I'm considering Clarity, Rare Find, and Unsurpassable but I have to get them when it launches here. Right now, we still don't have a definite launch date yet.

I'm sorry to hear of your bad experience. However, this is pretty much how I've experienced every Debenhams order :( I did order from Debenahms as I was so excited to order a day early or so I thought, then as soon as I realised MAC had it, I cancelled it. I know other ladies here really rate Debenhams because of the beauty loyalty card, but imho, the stress of ordering with them isn't worth it.

Mine was from Debenhams, and was in a box inside the Debenhams mailing bag. Too big to go through the letter box, and I had to sign for it anyway. It was all in polystyrene peanuts

I love these posts...we got alot of the same mes so it gives me lots of ideas!
I completely agree with you about the blogs...I don't understand why they rated them so low and why alot of the bloggers swatches appeared muddy. Karla Sugars swatches were most accurate I think. Between the shadows, brushes and creamsheen glosses this is my favourite collection this year!

It's so disappointing that they can't get the basic things right. Is it really that difficult to send e-mails in the right order? With all the news lately of high street shops going bust, you'd think those still in business would step up their game and get it right. When will retailers get the message that customers will only put up with poor customer service for so long?

I just tried on Gem of Roses and I agree with those that say it's in the same family like Mehr. Mehr maybe looked a tinge more cool on my lips. Even though it's a lustre, Gem or Roses seems like it has decent pigmentation. I have pigmented lips and it does show up as a MLBB type of lippie. I've been wearing Nars' sheer lipsticks almost exclusively lately and they're beautifully smooth and moisturizing. Gem of Roses feels quite drying on the lips in comparison. I don't like layering gloss over my lipstick but I'll try it with some balm underneath.

You are a stunner MrsB! I love those greens on you, your eyes look so bright against it. I can't wait to get my Unsurpassable now, being the green fiend that I am. I hope I get one with good veining so I can pick out the colours too.

I don't understand it either to be honest, given how low these shadows were graded for ease of use and wearability, I can't agree with any of it. I am still to use my Golden Gaze but everything I've used so far has been exceptional, and lovely to use!

I think you will definitely love Unsurpassable, its beautiful, it truly is. I want Jade's Fortune too now though, it meant to be fairly similar. I may get another Clarity too as if this one broke or I lost it somehow I think I'd cry! lol

Hopefully things will still be in stock next Friday on pay day!

Oh I'm glad to hear it. Please don't overlook Unsurpassable, it can be a very unique colour and each one is so individual depending on the veining, definitely check it out when you can :)
