MAC Daphne Guinness Discussion

I swear if Dick's sporting goods store pops up one more time! But yeah, I don't see why it's worth an F grade at all. Ok so she packed on Stratus...it is still a very pretty color. I'm actually kinda considering this now....I see the possibilities with it.

I'm going to skip Azelea Blossom. I own Sakura and to my eyes, they look similar and would look even more so on the cheek. I'm going to get Vintage Grape, it looks so lovely. :D
I have them both and I pretty much stopped using AB after I got Sakura - the color is close, but Sakura's finish has a beautiful sheen, while AB is a bit powdery. If you don't like MBs, though, AB is the way to go.

Oh, I also don't get Temptalia's quad review. If Heathers Belle is just like the Tartan Tale version....well, I have that one and it applies very well and isn't stiff or sheer. I think people will just have to make up their own minds on this one - the colors are certainly very nice.

Why am I not even surprised that she gave it an F

Who cares about the grades. If you like the quad, get it. What is an "F" for one person can be an "A" for another one - or vice versa.

Forgot to say, for the lip products, I've been a bit non-comittal about the lipsticks, since they all seem like colors we've already had this fall. If you didn't get One of a Kind or Offshoot, though, or you just really love them, Red Dwarf will be a really nice addition, with a little less of a brown edge.

Same thing goes for the glosses, except for Narcissus (which is outrageous and I'm getting it sight unseen). Richly Revered is an awesome color, though, if you don't have it already. It's become one of my favorite c/s/g.

I think this is a skip for me. Even before the bad review the quad wasn't doin' it for me and I already have enough pink & reddish pink blushes. I was thinking that Vintage Grape was going to be a bit more plummy/brown on the cheek, but it's not (Christine has the same skin tone as I do).

I think I might just go back and get the Parlor Smoke quad which I've been ogling hard ever since Cindy Sherman came out, or just wait and blow the cash on Naturally LOL...

Rayanna -I have the Lady Grey quad and like it a lot.

Would you say that Red Drawf is comparable to One of a Kind or Offshoot with more of a red undertone?

Thanks for your input, Liba! Now I definitely know I don't need AB. I hardly use my Sakura as it is. I do love the sheen MB have, though. :D
I'm still (sorta) kicking myself for not getting Giggly...

The only thing I know I want for sure is Aurora pigment. Nebula is a maybe. I have to see more swatches of the lipsticks and the polishes to make up my mind. The quad is a skip. Azalea Blossom I already have and Vintage Grape I don't fancy.

Amen to that! It's all down to personal taste. T loves shadows with really strong pigmentation so that's what she looks for and grades heavily on as far as I can see. Personally, I like it when a shade can be applied sheer or built up. I am nw10-15 so if there was strong pigmentation with these shadows it would be very hard for me to apply them without looking like I was beaten up! I think the quad in the quite cute collection got very low grades but I have it an love it. I tend to pick quads based on colours and finishes. I am undecided tho about the interior life quad mainly cause I thought the darker shades were more purple toned. Now that I have seen the swatches I am not sure if these colours would suit my green eyes?

As the quad has slight purple and lavender undertones, it will nicely complement green eyes without looking too colorful. In fact, I think the quad is much easier to work with than a true lavender, which is often difficult to pull off for those with lighter skintones and/or lighter eyes. I'd call Interior Life an excellent quad for a smokey eye office look with an oompf.

Strata does show up on my NW15-20 skin, but it is certainly a subtle highlighter and not a flashy one.

What color palette do you like better?

Well I normally wear more smokey colours that's why I like Interior Life but since looking at more swatches of Lady Grey I've been drawn to it, and it's still smokey but subtle. It's so hard when I can't go look at them for myself. I could get one later on but that depends of if it'll still be around later.
