Over the weekend, I lost my MES virginity! I wanted to wade gently into the waters, so (thanks to Pretty Kitty's lovely FOTD enabling) I started with Earthly.

Holy smokes, when I was at the counter on Friday, their Earthly was already broken! Made me so sad (and overly cautious).

After triple checking that my MES was safe and unbroken (knock on wood), I brought it home and was itching to try it out. At first, I thought I would try the Jaunty/Earthly look that Pretty Kitty posted, but decided to go w/ a smoky-ish eye since I was going out later that night.

Earthly (used dry) on the lid, Mystery to deepen the crease/outer third, Soba to blend it all out and I think Blanc Type as a highlight (can't remember). I also used Soft Ochre PP as a base and TFSI as a primer. (sorry for the weird pics, only had my phone with me that day). Loved that I was able to smoke it out without being overly dramatic.

I always avoided MES b/c I thought they'd irritate my eyes and fallout would be a pain, but Earthly was surprisingly easy to work with! I'm really excited to try more looks with it and can't wait to see how it looks foiled (which I've never before! Exciting).

Thinking about picking up Neo Nebula next. Pinkdollface posted a lovely look using NN with Sketch!
Thanks, your look is gorgeous too! I love Neo Nebula, because it's neutral with a girly (pinky) touch.

Thatkanojo: do you have both Light Year and Solar Ray? How do they compare?
I do not. I'm hoping to pick up LY today, perhaps. If I do I'll post comparison swatches. :) I think LY is far more pink though, SR swatches mostly translucent golden with a peachy pink base for me.

Love your look OhSoJaded! It is a very soft and natural look.
Maybe it is the beginning of a MES addiction?

Andabri, my Lightyear has little cracks at the side too and the MUA thought is was the result of the baking process. They showed me a MSF natural with the same small cracks. I hope she is right!

Thank you! I think it might be. I'll have to see how I like the brighter MES first. I don't love them more than my ED eyeshadows though. Those hold a very special place in my heart

Hmm. I own Luminoso and it doesn't get nearly enough love from me! I'll have to check this out. Maybe I'll bring Luminoso the next time I'm at a counter. Hopefully I don't LOVE the golden shimmer and can live without it...Then I can save that money for a new collection (or let's face it, another lippie or MES).
I actually did a swatch pic comparison for someone. I'll upload it to my profile. I'll try to post it here, but since I'm new my pictures have been held for moderation over the past few days, and don't get posted.

Lightyear on left, milani on right. you can see the golden sparkle in lightyear which the milani is lacking. if you swatch without the golden sparkle, lightyear becomes more pinky, so its like a peachy pink compared to a apricot-ish peach.

edited: oh yay it worked!

My MSF swirls:

Earthshine, I was hunting for the largest patches of burgundy and brown I could find. I lucked out SO much with this one. Gold only on the very edges and tiny amounts between the swirl. (too glittery for my taste)

Lightyear I was looking for the biggest peach rose swirl I could find.

starwonder I ordered. I love the large amount of swirls.

I made another trip to MAC yesterday. Invincible Light, Aurora and Universal Appeal were still nagging at me, so I wanted to swatch them again. I didn't get them, for the time being anyway. I did pick up a BU of Cusp of Dawn, a travel size Fix+ to experiment with wetting the mineralize products, the 286 brush and the 130 brush. I preferred the 130 over the 188 because it's smaller. I already have the 187. I bought it last year, but never used it until now for the MSFs. I originally got it to use for applying foundation, but I still haven't gotten around to getting any.

I still don't think I'm done. I want BUs of Venus, Celestial Kiss, Astral, and maybe Galaxy Rose. I think I may also pick up Strictly Plutonic. And I still haven't made a final decision about Invincible Light, Aurora and Universal Appeal. I would love to see more makeup looks of those colors on deeper skin tones.

I also don't think it's silly to BU things. It's a personal choice. I see it as makeup insurance. If it makes you happy and gives you piece of mind, then why not? Frankly, there are people who think buying makeup at all is silly and a complete waste of money. I'm fairly certain none of us here share any of those opinions. To each their own!

[snip] Is there anybody who bought Celestial Kiss? How do you like it?
I have it and love it. It's beautiful paired with Cusp of Dawn. I was playing around this morning and combined NYX Gold lip pencil with Cusp of Dawn and Celestial Kiss. I like the effect.

I'm wearing Warm Soul with Light Year today; I think if I only had these two cheek products for the rest of the summer I'd still be happy. I LOVE Light Year; I'm so glad all you enablers reeled me in.

Oh, I don't think it's silly to back items up; I hope my comment didn't come across that way. I don't do it because I'd rather have fun with new items and because I don't think I'll use most of what I have up. That doesn't mean I think there's anything wrong with it. Everyone manages their collection differently, and there's not a thing wrong with that.

Thanks! I spent far too many years with eyebrows thinner than they should have been. Then my (old) brow girl made a slight booboo about 7 months ago and they got even thinner! After a few tears, I decided to get them done at a new place and grow them out. It's been a slow process, but they're getting there!

:bigthumb: I also had to say good-bye to a few mineralize products that went on holidays with me. Never again! Replacing much-loved products is time consuming and expensive. Better safe than sorry.
Now I am scared! I am to go back to Ecuador on Saturday. How can I pack them so they make it home safely?

Oh wow, they are pretty close. I may have to check that blush out! How do you think the textures compare? I steer clear of drugstore products but I know there are always exceptions. I guess I've gotten picky; if I don't like the texture, how it applies, or something like that, it doesn't matter if the color's pretty.

They got me too girl! I can't believe it shows up on me as a light glowy blush! I'm NC30/35 and was completely skipping LY until Shellcat swatched it for me on our twin skin and it actually showed up as more than just shimmer! I was shocked! I wore it as a blush the last 2 days and it is so subtle but nice! I have resisted Warm Soul for way too long I think... Guess that will will end up in my cart during my next order online now! Look at YOU becoming an enabler yourself missy! HeeHee

Can anyone think of a dupe for Earthly but in a different formula (any brand)? Or can someone convince me that I don't need it? :D

I'm debating on Earthly myself. But, I have the Naked 2 palette and am worried it's too close a dupe for something in it lol. I'm getting some of the MES this friday so am deciding between it and Water as I would like more fun colored eyeshadows. Altho, my Naked palette is awesome lol.
