I definitely agree with both of you, I joined this site because none of my friends understand and I was looking for friends to share my passion with. They are always making jokes and throwing little rocks at me because of love for makeup. I honestly don't care because I love my makeup and I buy it with my own money so next time anyone says anything to you tell them to stop being jealous and buy some makeup of their own it might make them a little nicer to look at lol
Sometimes people that aren't so pretty on the inside... they find it hard to understand caring about being pretty on the outside. They understand passing judgement MUCH easier.
We're all glad you're here! And we all understand the love and fun involved in your makeup hobby! If it makes you smile, that's what matters!

Duckrodeo - 4 Meteroics? It must be love. It's a great color.

Did anyone backup Supernova? I tried it today and you guys weren't kidding, it is super pigmented. I must get a fan brush pronto. The pro store is out so I'm currently eyeing a Laura Mercier one. Don't know if I should just wait for Mac to restock.

I decided to try some of the highlighters alone rather than layered so I could get a better feel of the color. I put Light Year on one cheek and Solar Ray on the other. They looked pretty similar on me. I liked Light Year much better though. The sparkle seemed to meld better with the base color while the Solar Ray glitter sat on top of the skin and kind of wandered all over the place. I think I would probably use Solar Ray as a highlighter and probably use Light Year as a subtle blush in addition to a highlighter. Light Year definitely wins this battle.

I wish this collection is perm so we don't need to worrying about backups. The swirls are just too gorgeous.

I want to buy more, but I may need to save money for Marilyn.

Yay, I got the rest of my swirls! I was expecting them tomorrow but they surprised me today :D Light Year and Star Wonder. I'm pretty sure I'm done now. Venus sounds amazing but I'm just not a lipstick person.

I haven't tried either of them yet, except when I swatched LY for the below comparison...
I have both and I don't think they're quite the same. Obviously as you said RoS has shimmer whereas EM is matte. My guesstimate is that RoS is more rosy and EM more brown, but we'll see. I also think RoS is much more blendable than EM, which gets kind of spotty on me. It was rainy today so I don't have good lighting, but I will gladly take a pic of the two swatched next to each other when the weather decides to cooperate. I also need to compare LY and Perfect Topping.
<- indirect light

<- direct light

Early Morning vs Ring of Saturn, Perfect Topping vs Light Year (heavish swatches)

Light Year, Perfect Topping, RoS, Early Morning with flash to show shimmer.

Okay so these definitely aren't quite true to life, but as am looking at my arm right now I will do my best to describe the differences. I will try to take better pictures.

Early Morning is definitely matte for a MB with the tiniest sparkle that's really not there when worn. I can only see it because I'm observing really closely and it's a heavy swatch. It's definitely more red/terracotta than RoS and I'd say it gets spotty when attempting to apply it lightly. As seen in the closeup of my fingers, Early Morning looks more orangeish and and is fairly matte for an MB. I think the reason it looks different compared to the swatches is because it's so matte compared to the others and does not reflect the same.

Ring of Saturn has quite a lot of sheen and sparkle in comparison, and it goes evenly throughout application. The color is far more pink than Early Morning but it's still definitely not a pink blush. I'd say that next to Early Morning it looks like deep, dusty rose especially because of the gold shimmer. In the closeup of my fingers, RoS has a lottt of shimmer and glitter, and looks rosier.

Perfect Topping has about the same shimmer as Light Year, however it does not have anywhere near as much gold glitter. I swatched the pinkest part of my MSF, and the color is more of a cream leaning pink or peach, and it's clear to me why this is a highlighter even though I swatched the most colored part! It was also the chalkiest of all four. In the closeup of my fingers, Perfect Topping appears quite off white/cream without really any gold.

Light Year has the same high sheen/shimmer with gold sparkle as RoS. The color is definitely more vibrant than PT, and depending on your MSF it leans peachy/pink. I struggle to describe it any further than that, but it's for sure not the same color as PT. In the closeup of my fingers, Light Year reflects verrry gold.

Ultimately, both the MBs and MSFs are very close to each other. The colors and pigmentation are quite close, but the sheen/sparkle is entirely different. Especially because of the shimmer, I'd say that neither can replace the other. So unless you have an extremely tight budget, do not pass this collection up.

I'm sorry guys, I'd love to get a fantastic true to color picture but I lost my sun due to a huge rain cloud. It's been rainy here all week. This is still not perfect—the colors are way more vibrant and pigmented IRL. But I tried. :/

Haha thanks! I spend basically all of my time in a clinical environment, and wearing pretty makeup makes me feel better and more confident! Plus it is nice to do girly stuff to get ready in the morning - it makes getting up at 6am a lot more palatable when you have lovely MAC to look forward too :)
I feel the same way, all my patients always compliment me on the little bit of makeup I do put on to work but that little bit just makes me feel good and girly.

Thank you! I love my swirls! hhee! and yesss 4 Meteorics lol. There's really not much product in a cremesheen so I tend to use them up very quick! Much faster than a lipstick or regular lipglass. I've finished one Narcissus (Daphne Guinness) cremesheen and got BUs of that one, too. I don't buy cremesheens too often because I'm not 100% committed to the formula (I prefer the sticky-tacky feeling of a lipglass, they're much easier to tell when it's time to reapply!), however if the color is unique I will buy it and also get a BU. Meteoric is great with coral lipsticks and even just fabulous on its own, so I had to buy it plus BUs

I didn't get any backups of blushes, since a little goes a very long way! Especially with Supernova. I've only swatched it on my arm so far, but daaang does it pack a punch! I'll try to wear it sometime this week to get a feel of how to work with it! I'm sure our PRO-specktrettes can confirm, but I think the MAC fan brush is a limited edition brush that popped up when Tres Cheek came out - so I'm not sure of its likelihood of being restocked, but again our PRO members can definitely confirm one way or another!

I use a regular contour blush brush for my MBs and it's definitely workable. I just dab the brush on the product - no swiping or swirling of the brush, and then I apply it with a very light-hand on my cheeks. If I need to add more, I do the same technique, but I find it reduces packing on too much product, as well as wasting product by having the blush pieces getting kicked up and hanging out on the rim of the pot.

Light Year and Solar Ray looked almost identical on me, too, except Solar Ray had more of a golden-peachy shimmer to it, that made me pass on it. Light Year is much more blendable and is easy for me to apply for a glow on the cheeks! Solar Ray I would probably use for the same purpose, but since there is more product in an MSF, I went for LY!

You're welcome! I had to be darned sure it was something unique rather than pass up on it completely! Did you pick it up?? I find myself saying that I could have easily passed it up, but everyone is right: it really does something magical on the lips! It's so pretty!

I will admit that I have enough lipsticks to last years and eyeshadows up the wazoo - but as others have said here, makeup is a hobby! If we spend our money on that, so what? It's our money, our free time and our interest! My brother collects mostly baseball, but sports memorabilia in general, and he always has to give his two cents on how much makeup I own (even though he hasn't seen all of it!), and how many clothes I buy, etc etc. Basically he asks: "Why do you spend your money on that?" umm, because it's my money and not yours! He buys stuff that just sits in a display case, or goes into a binder or storage, but he has it and he loves it, so who am I to judge? To me, it's frivolous that he spends money on getting a baseball with a pen signature on it, but to him: it's what he loves to do and spend his money on! So, even though people may feel the need to interject their opinion, take it with a grain of salt and keep doing your thang!

It must feel good to use something up. I wouldn't know the feeling. I have a few cremesheen glasses but I'm not even close to finishing. I did hear they were less product though. Thanks for the info on the fan brush. I will have to investigate this one.

It can be good or bittersweet! I know I will be a little sad the day I use up all of my Rose Maiden and One of a Kind lipsticks, but then again I don't feel like hunting them down to pay more than retail for them, either! I use lip glosses up super fast, especially if I use the same one frequently.

I bought a Buxom lipgloss around Thanksgiving and finished it by New Years. I'm not sure how much product is in those, but I didn't buy it again because it was $18-20 for it and the packaging was kind of bulky. So far this year I've finished 3 lipglasses and one cremesheen, as well as two drugstore brands. I love my lipsticks, but I like to layer lipgloss over them so throughout the day it's easier for me to reapply, even without a mirror.

You're welcome for the info :) I haven't looked lately, but Sigma has great brushes too. They might have a fan brush available there as well!

I've used up 3/4 of my Star Quality and 1/2 of my Double Dare (bought it in May); they'd both have been done by the end of summer if I hadn't just bought Strictly Plutonic (my new love) and Meteoric. I'm almost tempted to get another Star Quality but it's really a summer colour and there will probably be another I like just as much next year. I'm going to take them all on my summer vacation this year because I think they'll do better in the heat than lippies. I may end up finishing at least one of them while I'm away.

I don't go through the l/g as quickly; I have four on the go and none are anywhere near used up. I much prefer the texture of CSG because I don't like the sticky feeling; I think I'll just stick to that formula from now on.

I am NC20 and it looks amazing! Not too cool. I love it so much I got 2 :D
Thanks! I loved the swatch so I don't know how the MA convinced me not to get it. I think I'll check out Venus again too. Any idea what swirl I should look for? Or how Venus looks on pigmented lips?

This is random but, I HATE it when people say anything along the lines of: "...But I don't have nearly as much makeup as you do" OR "I think you have WAAAY more than you need; you're never going to finish all of that." So what? I can't imagine spending what you do on the things you buy, but you don't see me judging you.

Why must you make a point of how much I own? Ugh. And to be frank, I have a baby collection compared to most makeup addicts! When I say that though as an answer I get "Yea, but for being a makeup fiend, in 2 years thats a lot of stuff" -.- It's like fuck you. I know my limit, even though I'm only 19, I'm smart about my purchases.... 99% of the time! :p

Hun, my stash is so large & I don't give a flying crap what anybody thinks. I love ALL of it. I'm almost 53 so I've been collecting a loooong time. To each his own. I have no other vices, & makeup makes me happy. And, it helps that my hubs thinks its just fine no matter how much I buy. He says a girls gotta have her makeup

If you're Canadian the electro cool eyeshadows are already out at The Bay! I swatched them, and albeit they feel really cool! But tbh I have shadows that look similar if not, the exact same that do the same job, so I shall be passing on these. Plus I know BU items is personal, I'm wondering if I should BU Light year? And Solar Ray looks similar to it on my NC 40 skin tone. So I put both on hold... It's the last Light Year at my counter and third last Solar Ray :O

Same reasons why I joined! :) I have my best friend who loves just as much as well do, but other than that nobody understands :( They all poke fun at me... Make up is more than just powder, liquid and shimmer.
