Sorry, no swatches. It was a mad house. A mad house I tell you! This is my 3rd event and the first time I scheduled to be at there at the 7pm opening time. There was already a line of about 20 people before me when I got there around 6:50pm. We were let in shortly after 7:10pm. The tester stations were already crowded by the time I got inside. I stuck with my plan of filling in nearly everything I thought I wanted on the form and handed it to a MUA. Then I went back and tried to swatch things. Each item from the collection had its own tester station - Glamour Daze, the 2 lipstick bags, the Viva Glam bag, the MAC exclusive face kits, the brush sets, the eye shadow duo kits, and even the hanger bag had a station. I focused on the Glamour Daze station.
I didn't get Beauty because it seemed too light for me after swatching, or Innocence because I didn't like how it swatched on my hand. Outrageously Fun was pretty on my hand, but didn't seem unique when swatched. I got it anyway because I like the color, and it really came to life on my lips when I swatched it at home. I agree that it's like a more pink Up The Amp, which I love. I plan to get a BU. On me, Dramatic Encounter is a dupe for Yung Rapunxel. Swatched on my hand, Dramatic Encounter has slightly more red in it than Yung Rapunxel. However, they look exactly alike on my lips. I did a side by side comparison to make sure. I'll add that Dramatic Encounter has none of the application issues of Yung Rapunxel and applies pretty opaque from the start. I also picked up Glamourdaze because it didn't appear brown on me. It's a very pretty muted mauve color when swatched on my hand. Unfortunately, I couldn't try it on when I got home because I was given Beauty instead. Noooo! So know I still need to make sure I get Glamourdaze. That's what I get for not checking my bag again before I left the store.
I swatched all of the EDES and Round Midnight is the only one I didn't get because it looked too dull. I skipped all of the original EDES, so I'm unable to make comparisons. I will say that the stand out colors to me are Ready To Party, Divine Blue, and Stylishly Merry. Stolen Moment is also very pretty and I'm excited to have Tall, Dark & Handsome because it's my first black eye shadow. Again, I didn't check my bag before leaving and found that I was given two Stolen Moments instead of one. Argh! A Natural Flirt and Evening Grey are nice, but not amazing. I may end up returning those two.
I didn't swatch the Fluidlines because I was automatically getting them. I love Fluidlines and they're beautiful looking at them in the pot, especially Feminine Edge. I want BUs of them all. I wasn't interested in the blushes so I didn't swatch them. I had to pick and choose since it was extremely crowded. I only got Flight of Fancy lipglass mainly because I don't have a purple like it. Pink Fade is pretty, but I wasn't interested. I wasn't able to swatch the other lipglasses. I don't know, I'm not really a fan of lipglasses in general because I find them to be too sticky. I think I'm going to be moving away from buying more of them unless the colors are truly unique to me.
What else... Oh yeah, I swatched the black glitter polish just to see it. I had no plans to buy it. I was just curious. A lady next to me said that she's a nail technician and thought the color looked "very 80's" and I started laughing. I also really like the travel bag even though I don't like leopard print! The neutral colors in the design work for me and I actually like that it's plastic to easily keep clean. The compartments are a nice size and the 2nd compartment is very large. The lace pattern is also transparent, so you'll be able to see what's in each compartment.
I skipped all of the sets. I'll take my chances at the CCO. The MAC exclusive face kits are very nice and I like the texture of the pillow top, but I would only use the lipstick and lipglass, so it wasn't worth it for me to get. I was also tempted by the lipstick bags, mainly the Lickable one since that lipstick is on my to-buy list, but I stayed strong. I did ask if they had the Cremesheen/Dazzleglass sets, but I was told that they wouldn't be available until Nov. 5th along with the pigment sets. It's just as well that they didn't have them available. I got serious sticker shock when I got my total at the register for the things I did get. I had to drink a glass of champagne *after* making my purchase!
I'm going to be up for a while, so I'll try to answer any questions. I'll also try to take swatch pics tomorrow if it's sunny.
