I'm wearing Whisper of Gilt today, but I can't see it. I'm not sure if I'm supposed to or what. (I don't pile it on b/c I'm not sure if I'll look like the tin man or something.) I do makeup wrong.

What brush are you using? Don't be afraid to really buff it into the cheekbone area! And don't be too afraid of "doing it wrong." I always tell people that if they don't like how something comes out, it's makeup, not a tattoo...it comes right off!

Not when you're late to work LOL and would have to start all over with your face. I'm using the 130SE as suggested by the MAC MA. I haven't felt especially skilled at applying any of the Extra Dimension products. I feel like I'm doing it wrong or not using the right brushes. I'm not sure if I should use natural hair, synthetic, duo fibre or what.

Lol valid point. When I have to be in early for work, I don't bother with makeup at all except for a quick sweep of powder over my face. But on a day when you don't have work or you have a little extra time (hilarious, I know), you should take time to play! I use the 130 as well (though not the SE). I've found that especially if you're using the EDSF dry, you have to dig into it a little. Don't just lightly sweep the surface of it. Use a little pressure and swirl the brush in small circles, then buff it into those cheekbones. Give that WoG some tough love, and let me know if that works better for you!

I use the 130 for all my face powders (beauty powder, MSF, EDSF) - with the EDSF like Superb and WoG, I hold the brush at a slight angle, in lieu of dipping the brush in the powder or sweeping. I just ever so lightly dig at the surface, bristles a little sideways, just enough to kick up some powder that can be picked up by the brush to be used for application

The 109 brush could work with EDSF as well, if you're careful of how much product can get stuck in its bristles. Sometimes I feel it picks up too much powder, but the bristles are nice and compacted, and great for highlighting the corners of the face and bridge of the nose.

Yay! I got an email last night from Mac saying my order shipped! I have no idea what happened the first time around. I did the exact same thing as before, but finally it shipped!! :) Luckily, I was able to reorder Superb, because it is now OOS again.
My order shipped too and I noticed they upgraded shipping to second air! So I should get it in time for Christmas. Thank you MAC!!!

The main thing is: do you want it to look really subtle or do you want to see the metallic wet goodness all the way? The type of brush you use will make a difference with this.

My favorite brush for them is the split fiber slanted kabuki LE from Semi-Precious, or sometimes the 131 duo fiber highlighter brush if I want to apply it more lightly (they need to bring that one back - one of the best brushes ever). I think any duo fiber brush is going to give a much lighter application of the EDSFs - something about the texture of the product in the pan makes duos like 130/187/188 pick up less. If you don't want that, you'll definitely need to dig into the pan more like Chosen One was saying, and do the swirly buff thing. Otherwise, you could tap it across the cheeks, sweep and then use a spray of Fix+ to bring out the sheen, if you don't like to buff powders deeply into your pores (I personally try to avoid that, cuz my skin isn't getting any younger). In some ways, using a standard flat natural fiber brush might be simpler than a duo fiber one, overall, unless you have a flat duo fiber (like the 131, etc.) - the flat shape and coarser hairs pick up more product from the pan in a go and also helps sort of "smear" it onto the face; that brings out the shine while helping to melt it in. This is why I love the kabuki - right type of hair and just needs one swipe for applying and maybe one more swipe to tone it down a little, plus I don't need to grind it into the pan to get enough, so much less waste.

Hope this helps - don't be hard on yourself on your "skills" - it just takes a little playing around when you have time, then when you get it down, you'll get perfect results with no effort at all.

All of this is so so very helpful. Thanks to all who contributed. I think I need to be a bit rougher on it. I admit I am gentle b/c it looks so pretty in the pan. I don't really want to grind it into my pores so the flat kabuki sounds ideal. If I recall that brush is really hard to find. I'll have to search for the name of it. I need to play in my makeup more and quit worrying about messing it up. It's my personality of trying to do things well/perfectly.

The 116 wouldn't be bad, if you have that one. I'm very light and gentle with my EDSFs, use them non-stop and have hardly made dents in any of them - you don't need to be too rough digging product out.

Read the Extra Dimension thread, lots of people were giving all sorts of application ideas there when the collection first came out.

Play with your makeup at night before you're going to go to bed - you'll be relaxed then and after you're done, you can give yourself a little mini-facial to clean up and have a nice rest!

THEY RESTOCKED!!
Thank you for posting this! I had been checking the website each day hoping for a restock. Monday was the one day I had not checked the site but thank goodness I was on Specktra and saw your post. I feared I was too late because it was late in the afternoon before I saw the post but I was still able to order the three items I missed out on and feared would never get; Outrageously Fun lipstick, Stolen Moment and Round Midnight EDES. My items are waiting at UPS for pickup!

Finally got the blush I wanted small vanity yeah. So glad they restocked.
I wish they would release these other 2 collections and I would actually take advantage of that restock. I think I want to BU Mystery and get Raven and I am on the fence about the blue EDES and the pink sparkly fluidline...

I had the same issues because I really did admire the pretty imprinting but if it makes you feel better, the little wave part of my W0G has hatch marks all over it now. So its lost its imprint virginity. Once that happens, you can just go to town and its a lot easier to get it looking like we want it on our face, which is really where it matters the most

Same here. I already missed out on the restock of WoG because I gambled by waiting to place my order for it. Was planning to do that at the same time I placed my order for the two new collections. So now it's just a matter of talking myself out of getting a b/u of Easy Manner, and I'll be able to skip the restock altogether.

That is exactly how it feels!

I also have Divine Blue, Catch My Eye, Feminine Edge, and Superb from this collection that I haven't even opened from their box yet. No idea why I thought I could wear blue eye shadow. My most worn items from this collection are A Natural Flirt and Small Vanity. I can't believe how much I love that blush.

lol do you mean strength and apres chic collection? Everyone abd their momma os waiting for that collection to pop up lol. I guess we have to wait till next week. The blue edes is ok it's not as special as i thought it would be. As for the pink fluid line i think it will work best as a base because yesterday i tried again to use it as a liner and still chunky, but the color is soooo pretty.
