welcome. pretty!! another chicagoan!!! YAY!

Im totally new to this but I'm staying in tonight and I'm still wearing my Strong Woman lippie to celebrate! The color is a little less purple in this pic than it is in real life (there's iphone pics for you) but Happy New Year everyone!

I do too - it really makes it quite different from the other purples that have been coming out. I don't even think I'd want to call it purple- on me it's more like a retro musky magenta! I had an old suit from the early 60's that was this color. It's creeping up my Love-o-Meter - so unique!

Color Saturation looks so awesome over it, too - even better than it does over Heroine. I wish I had a scarlet cremesheen glass to try over it to bring out even more red…Astral might work too!

I already threw a MCLP in my cart last week when I saw that. Sure, there are most fool-proof powders with a similar effect now, but the cooling sensation was so nice. I thought it was going to stay perm much longer :(
I loved it whenever i wore it, but loose powders are so messy to me. what do you think is simililar? How do you wear yours?

Just throwing it out there about the MCLP... I too where mine all over lol! I'm shocked that their doing away with them so soon! But... There is hope! If anyone remembers Prescriptives they are under the Estée Lauder family also, they don't have counters anymore but they sell on their website only now, their magic powders are almost the exact same! I know 2 of the shades are pretty exact off the top of my head! I used to wear that before MAC launched them with the Disney Villains collection. They used to be 30 something but I don't know if they are still priced the same or not now..

In fact looking on their website it's $37.50 but they have a promotion where it's 20% off so its now $30 with free shipping :D Translucent is pretty close to the lightest one MAC made..although I don't seem to see the other shades on there.. I know they made them at one point! :shrugs: edit: In the reviews I guess someone said they discontinued the other shades.. But if you are on the fairer side I would give it a shot! :nods:

I never used MCLP but if it's getting DCd I might as well snag it before it disappears. What other powders do you think gives a similar effect? I managed to accumulate a lot of highlighters in the past few months so it might be a better idea for me to leave it if I have several (near) dupes already.

And this, ladies and gents, is one of those rare moments when yours truly exercises common sense concerning makeup!

Oh cheese and rice I am bout to break my no-buy again! Just looked up pink bronze and now I need it. And figured I'd might as well throw some perm items in as well before the new price hike happens.

Am I the only one experiencing "problems" with absolute power? It's really drying on my lips and makes them so chapped! I know it's a matte, but most of my lipsticks are that same formula and don't give me that problem, I've tried Chapstick before application but it doesn't help much :( . It's only when I wear that lipstick that my lips get like that and it's bumming me out because i like the color

You could try using prep and prime before applying the lipstick. I got one and it is wonderful! Makes the color last longer, goes on smoother and does not chap my lips either (naturally dry). Give it s shot :D

What is this "common sense concerning makeup" you speak of?

This happens with most of the mattes for me (and the mattenes as well). What works for me is to use a balm first (I like the Tendertones, but I am sure good old petroleum jelly or whatever you like would work fine) then wait--I usually do face make up and brush teeth and give the balm time to sink in. Then, I dry the lips really good. If they were flakey to start with, I exfoliate before the balm (I use a Paula's Choice product, but honestly some coarse sugar or salt mixed with olive oil would work fine too).
After I exfoliate (if needed) then condition with Tendertone or other balm of choice, then let that absorb, I blot dry, then apply Prep and Prime lip and wait about 30 seconds for it to get "tacky." Then apply your lippy. Much less flaking and dryness now!
