I think the bronzer/blusher & Lustre drops sold out, because they were the most "unique' and "summery" things in the collection.
MAC rarely releases new lustre drops... Maybe a casual MU buyer might not even know that MAC has two permanent ones.
The bronzer/blusher isn't too unique, but I think it is summery and RiRi so fans of her and mac's would get it.
The lipsticks we all know have near identical permanent dupes in MAC's collection Ruby Woo, Up the Amp, and Rebel. The only thing different is the finish and slight variation of tone or color. Lots of people know this, so maybe that was a factor. Plus perhaps MAC prepared for the lipsticks to sell quickly and had more stock for them. I know lately the first things to sell out are the lipsticks in their collections.
If I had money I might have gone for the Lustre Drops. Then again I don't think that color would have looked good on my pale skin. I'll stick with Pink Rebel. I suspect if you mix Pink Rebel and Sun Rush together you can get a similar color to Barbados Girl.
I got Heaux btw.
