Anyone have the 131 brush and the 159? I wonder if I need the 159 since I own the 131.
I have both and they are decidedly different, but can achieve the same function/task. The 159 may allow a tad more precision---the 131 is round and the 159 is flat.

Holy Pigmented Pink Power! The blushes are BEAUTIFUL!!!! Sweet Samba is awesome - I LOVE it. If you can get only 1 blush, get this one. Rio softly high up the cheekbones over SS is

The glorious golden shade on the other half of Simmer - gorgeous, gorgeous as an eyeshadow! Love the blush side. Its fresh cheeks in a pan. Just use it like it has A LOT of calories in it - sparingly!

The 159 brush is a must have also. It works so much better with the MSF. It also makes using one color without the other in the pan so much easier. The 131 has much longer bristles, whereas the 159 has this wonderful little soft curved duo fiber top. I want like 100 of them...ok, maybe a few more.
I'm loving the blushes too---and the 159 does help with application---glad I got two of them. I thought they were perm but I read on here today that they're not. So what's the real story because I might need another two of these puppies, as well.

Early!

Gorgeous pic, Pretty Kitty, as always - that blush looks amazing on you... and now I "need" that lippie too!

Well I don't post often, but I feel as though I need to "confess" to my haulage on this collection because I am feeling kinda guilty... I went from not wanting much to buying almost everything (justifying it all as 'early birthday' presents to myself). Ugh (but yay!). Here goes:

159 Brush
Rio x2 (I'm NW20 and looove this - I'm sorry to hear that some people are having trouble with it; it's got such a gorgeous pinky sheen on me)
Adored x2
Lust
Simmer
Tropica
Time to Tango
Bossa Blue/Brown
Dare to Bare
Devine Choice
Lady at Play
Ablaze liner

And I LOVE it all.

Keep the all the amazing pics coming - enjoy your day, gals and guys!

Feel better Lilinah---you have that awesome trip coming up and I hope you're able to enjoy it fully!!!
When i tested Lust and Rio MSFs, i found both work as blushes on me. I'm not as pale as some of you, but i'm between 15 & 20, with a neutral skin tone.

I haven't tried them on at home yet - i've got a stupid summer cold and not feeling like dolling myself up. Fortunately, it seems to be going away pretty quickly

That means i should be fine for my camping trip next week. I'm leaving on the afternoon of 3rd, arriving on site on the morning of the 4th, and home on Monday the 8th. We'll spend most of the time cooking from medieval recipes over a real wood charcoal fire (none of those silly pressed charcoal powder briquets) in reproduction medieval cookware with at least a dozen other medieval cooks. I'll be test cooking some recipes from a mid-15th c. Ottoman cookbook that i recently translated. We eat using reproduction medieval dishes and sleep in reproduction medieval tents. Very comfortable. The event as a whole has between 1,000 and 1,500 attendees, and has been held for around 30 years.

I'm sure the compliments you got were well deserved!!!

I went to the Mac store yesterday morning. I didn't quite make it to the opening (I was dead tired) but pretty close to it. There were a few people in there but not looking at the display which I figured. It is funny this store runs out of stuff pretty fast but I never really see tons of people in there on launch day. I can only figure that many people come on their lunch break as opposed to me who either comes when they open if I'm off or late afternoon.

I bought more than I thought I would.

I bought:

  • Sweet Samba MB
  • Simmer MB
  • Exotic Ember MB
  • Time to Tango MES
  • Caribbean MES
  • Tropica MES
  • Fever Isle CSG
  • Adored MSF
  • Lust MSF
  • Rio MSF
  • 159 brush

I forgot to get Ablaze lipliner so I went to another Mac store this morning and bought:

  • Ablaze
  • Have to Have It BU
  • Sweet Pop nail polish

I was bad and bought all 3 MSFs because they looked so different in different lighting. One in particular looked very pink metallic duochromey when I went to a different part of the store but I couldn't remember which MSF I put on that part of my hand. I'm pretty sure it wasn't Rio though.

I didn't play much with my stuff yet. I did play with Sweet Samba last night so this morning I wanted to use Exotic Ember. Exotic Ember swatched orange on my hand and did look like anything I owned so I was eager to try this on the cheeks. This morning I put it on - orange on one cheek but I must have picked up too much brown on the other cheek and they did not match at all. I did have time to fix it so I took it all off and went with another color. I will try it again later.

I went to Saks today to buy other makeup and got compliments on my makeup application and eye color at two different counters. It was so weird. It was like the morning meeting said "compliment the customers on application and eye color today." I was quite surprised because I went fairly simple today. Maybe the products speak for themselves. I wore Time to Tango on the lids, Sweet Samba MB with Rio MSF and Astral lipgloss.

I hope I don't go back for anything else. I still kind of have Bossa Blue on the mind mostly because I love bronzy colors and I don't have a bronze MES that color. So Bossa Blue is a maybe.

WOWZA!!! PLEASE BU both! The world needs to see a LOT of you wearing this! HOLY MOLY!
LMAO!!! Too cute!
Elegant-one is NOT the person to look to for anti-enabling! I need to start an "elegant-one budget" JUST for the stuff she "forces" me to buy! Every single thing has reach HG status within a few uses! So NOW I can't resist anything she recommends! I have started avoiding threads because of her! LOL *I'm looking at you Dior Thread*
I'll drink to that!

Elegant does have an eye for the good stuff and I've yet to be disappointed by any of her picks!

You really can't tell that you don't have full-face makeup on---I took a second look when I read that because you just look BEAUTIFUL!
Just threw a little Simmer on because I wanted to test it out. It's storming outside so excuse the lack of full face makeup.

Same goes for this ancient Roman cuisine that I tried in Southern France last year. It was all puréed and I wasn't exactly sure what it was but I know i wanted more.

The organization, the Society for Creative Anachronism, began in 1966 here in Berkeley California. It isn't a fair; everyone is a participant; we all dress in historical clothing or something close; there are no actors vs. customers vs. vendors. It's active in North America, Europe, Australia & New Zealand, Asia (S. Korea, Japan, and Thailand), some Pacific Islands, and South Africa. We are a not-for-profit educational organization - we have members, but all our events are open to the public - and we usually have loaner clothing for people who don't have their own medieval-oid stuff.

Most of the restaurants i've read about serving supposed historical food usually modernize their recipes unnecessarily. Roman food wasn't pureed - i studied quite a few books before i came up with my menu and prepared a banquet with 26 different Roman recipes - the only purees were two sauces, one with pine nuts over eggs and another with dates over fresh tuna.

I've made quite a few different banquets using historical recipes (Roman Empire, England, France, Spain, Germany, Italy, medieval Morocco, Middle East). I'd put a link to my website with my recipes, but we're aren't allowed to put links to our own websites in our messages, and i don't have it in my sig because it has nothing to do with makeup. Anyone is interested in seeing my feast menus and recipes of renaissance, medieval and earlier food, you can PM me.

Back closer to topic: When i'm at events i just use my skin care and plenty of sun screen, usually no makeup, just a little eyeliner sometimes.
