I used wire cutters to snip of the front bit, dripped in a bit of alcohol, let it sit for a couple minutes to loosen the glue, and carefully wiggled the pan out. Presto!
That's the way I do it !!

I just did my first depots (es) at the weekend using this method. Apart from carelessly sticking my thumbnail in one of the shadows, it worked perfectly :)

I also got an e-mail about my order of the blush insert waiting to be sent to the warehouse to ship it out. I am looking out for the shipping e-mail for it as well as for the eyeshadow insert and restock.

I used to do this but i was impatient while trying to wiggle them out and ended up with cracked shadows. So now i use my flat iron. Let it sit on some aluminum foil on the flat iron for like 5 min and i take a thumbtack and pop it out. Very easy and all my shadows are now in perfect condition from this method Eta: ive depotted reg eyeshadows, blushes, and prolongwear shadows like this with no problems

I've used a flat iron method, too. I used a utility knife to separate the pan + casing from the compact, put it on the flat iron (with a bit of wax paper on the plate) for a little while, then popped out the pan (I forget how I did this) and cleaned up any residual glue with some rubbing alcohol once the pan cooled off. All my eyeshadows came out fine. I lost a little off the edge of one blush, and I had another that was simply impossible to de-pot for whatever reason, and I lost a chunk of it. :(

I also use the flat iron method (with wax paper). Works fine for me.

The candle method is a hell no for me! LOL!! I'm scared that I will burn the carpet in my room. Right now I'm thinking of depotting some more blushes to make room in my makeup stash.

That's why you ALWAYS depot in the kitchen, on the counter! When i first started depotting i used the oven method! We're talking OLD SKOOL!!! But if you weren't careful, you'd damage certain textures such as veluxes and mattes.

Did you place the pot directly on the plate, or did you have something in between the pot and the plate (foil or wax paper)?
Always parchment paper. Never directly on the flat iron. You'll melt the plastic onto your iron :(

http://youtu.be/o--oPgjo43o Don't use a knife tho. Use a metal spatula. Its much safer!
