Welcome! I ordered TRY from Indulge and on my email confirmation it says they are sending me a sample of that too.. Its the first time I have been sent a sample from ordering online
Hello everyone. I joined this site a few weeks ago and I'm still trying to figure out how this forum works, please forgive me in advance if I mess up something. LoL ;) Anyway, I ordered a PP from this collection and got my package today, when I opened it, Mac had sent me a sample of their Zoom Fast Black Lash mascara. I was shocked. Mac sending samples??? Any of you got this too? Maybe it was an accident but anyway, I thought I should share.

I also just looked at my shipment confirmation email from the order I placed last night and it also says "Zoom Fast Blacklash Sample Kit".

I haven't gone to the p.o. yet to pick up my package but on my email confirmation when I ordered my PP it listed something about a sample of Zoom Fast Black mascara. I guess I'll see once I get the package. Is it a small sample sized tube?
Yes. It's small, about the size of the UDEPP mini sample.

It's not something they do all the time, maybe once every, oh i dunno, 5 years, if that often. :dunno:

My face is naturally much darker than my neck and chest. I didn't know it was a trend. It's just my life. LOL So if I wear foundation to match my face do people perceive me to be wearing a shade that is too dark? That would stink.

As far as the Sephora ColorIQ - if a person has areas of 'unusual' pigmentation e.g. redness, dark spots, freckles, etc. it's best to not take photos in those areas because it will throw off the reading. For instance, I was working with a woman who had melasma yesterday so I didn't photograph her forehead in that area. I selected an area on her forehead that didn't have the pigmentation issue. It was helpful that she was comfortable talking about her skin discoloration. Some people get huffy and hostile if you bring up their perceived flaws. We're trained to let them bring it up so as not to offend them. Also, if a person has a lot of yellow or red undertones for some reason it seems to suggest darker foundations to compensate for the undertone. I don't know why and it's not necessarily all the time, but it's something to be aware of. It's new technology so people are still getting used to its quirks.
My face has definitely become darker than my neck and chest over the years. Frankly, I don't think it matters so much anymore to have a perfect match. First, styles have changed and secondly and more importantly, it's best to go with what looks good on you. If you naturally have it, then for sure don't try to hide it or it might turn out looking like a mask. One nice thing about makeup nowadays is it's so much easier to sheer it out. The best bet is to use foundation and powder only where you need it then taper it out towards the jawline. It will wind up looking natural and seamless that way. Heck, you guys all saw that picture of myself I posted in the Indulge thread….my MA only used foundation on me down the center of my face and NO powder at all. It looks like I'm not wearing anything! That's the ideal, if you ask me.

I ordered Tailor Grey paint pot. I forgot Temptalia had swatches so I went back and viewed them. TG was really the only one I found appealing. Hopefully I like it. I'll take a look at the others in person.

It's at the p.o. waiting for me. The hubster was going that way so I asked him to get it for me. I hope he got it today otherwise there will be consequences he must pay.

I just sent him a text asking if he went there today because he hasn't made it home yet and he had the nerve to say "No I didn't". Oh really Mr? It's been available for pickup since yesterday but I couldn't make it so I asked him. Ugh. Hopefully tomorrow because if I don't like it, it's going back or to the Clearance Bin.

I'm anxious to see what I think about it too Lele. That's what I get though for sending a man to do a woman's job.   He must've gotten more busy today than he thought he'd be.
I know right, I bet if it was something related to sports like picking up tickets to a game he would have went there first thing this morning... Lol

He's not THAT big on sports but if it were a tool or something that consists of building something he would've been all over it. Hahaha!

I try to know my flaws, and be realistic about them, that way i can work with them. The SA who did my ColorIQ initially sampled both my rosacea red cheeks and the dark patch at my jaw line - i forget what the third spot was, my forehead i think, which is my normal color, although it has a few freckles. I bet the second time she unintentionally got a freckle.

Yeah, new technology... perhaps it needs to be recalibrated a little. It was really amazing how far off the suggestions were, even the time when she didn't sample my dark patches. I was hoping it would save me some time, since i was so hoping not to have to go through 4 dozen samples again, but no dice... at least i know some products/ colors not to try :)

For some reason i thought it was already Thursday. I dropped by my local MAC this afternoon to check out the Pro Longwear stuff. They had it out to test in the back room.

I only tried the four i thought i might want. I tested:
--- Clearwater
--- Camel Coat
--- Stormy Pink
--- Perky

I like Clearwater. It's matte and muted, but i don't find it dull. I think it will make a good base for the aqua shadows i have - and Sex & the Oyster.

Camel Coat is so tricksy. It is camel color in the jar, warm and yellow-toned, but once on it's cool beige. I'm not convinced i need it.

While we know that Perky has pearl, says so in the description, turns out Stormy Pink has some shimmer - not metallic, not frost, not glitter, just subtle shimmer. It is pretty dark on me, but i like its mauve-grey. It will work under many of my warmer purple, plum, and pink eyeshadows.

I like Perky. I own Rubenesque and it has a lot of gold shimmer, which is nice when called for, but not good all the time. Perky will work under all the orange, peach, and apricot shadows i got this year.

So i think i will only get those three - Clearwater, Stormy Pink, and Perky.

The eyeliners were a bit disappointing. The gold one is nice, but i have a lot of gold and black-gold liners. The green and the plum make a strong dark line, and do have metallic sheen, but only if i applied one heck of a lot, more than i'd want. And i don't wear black liner. So skip for me.

Ugh such a waste of time for you to be going through worthless samples. If you go back perhaps try directing the SA a bit on what areas to avoid photographing due to pigmentation. I accidentally got a freckle before, too. It happens.

I feel like the IQ thing really doesn't work well with olive skin tones. It recommended all these foundations that are super pink for me and end up looking very grey (I even tried them at sephora and the MUA was like ummm... No). The only recommendation I got that matched was MUFE 123 but everything else was way off. =/ maybe those without olive skin tones will have better success and without a lot of discoloration... Idk
